First Minister Alex Salmond is saying that the SNP would use its voting power in a hung Parliament to protect Scotland.
Fair enough.
He also states a deal with the Tories has been ruled out by the SNP.
This is wrong, regardless of how many seats Tories have in Scotland, it was a UK election.
If this is to getting the best possible deal for Scotland, everyone should be open about this, we need to talk to anyone.
Alex Salmond says;
“The interests of Scotland and Wales will be paramount”.
It is in the interests of both Scotland and the SNP that there is a Tory Government in Westminster.
The Labour Party has to be marginalised.
However talks have already opened with UK civil servants about a possible agreement with Labour, this is wrong!

“Quite clearly, Scotland voted dramatically and overwhelmingly against Tory Government”.
So, let us stop a moment and ask this question; who is the party that the SNP must take seats from to gain independence?
The Labour Party!
So, how does backing the Labour Party help the SNP cause for independence?
The Labour Party have to be marginalised, kept out of power, shown to be weak, corrupt and ineffective.
But the SNP is going to prop them up as Scotland’s ‘people’s champions’!
The SNP was in opposition for eight years when a Labour/Liberal Democrat coalition governed at Holyrood.
We back the Labour Party; the SNP will be back in opposition in 2011.
David Cairns, Labour MP for Inverclyde, has denounced the First Minister’s hopes as a “fantasy”.
Cairns said;
“The SNP were soundly rejected by the people of Scotland and Labour has not approached the SNP in any way shape or form”.
Alex Salmond has also ruled out a formal coalition with any “London parties” but said the SNP would look at votes in the House of Commons on an “issue-by-issue” basis.
This means, something which I have argued for some considerably time might happen.
The SNP will be voting on English matters if a deal is struck.
I would also flag this up, the SNP need to go further, they need to get more representation at Westminster.
That means SNP members of the House of Lords working for Scotland.
Remember I said the SNP need to adopt a radical change agenda?

Salmond's offer to Labour was not meant to be accepted.
When they rebuffed it Labour lost their old claim that the SNP let in the Tories. Now Labour have shown that they prefer Scotland to be run by a Tory government in London rather than form an alliance with the SNP.
Now, I don't expect this to be stated in the Record or BBC news, but in water cooler chats and door step campaigns it might tell at the next election.
Salmond has out classed Labour again.

Aex is right on this one 'IF' Electoral reform and fair votes is carried through.......the outcome will lead to a more democratic westminster Parliament.

Let us say for discussion that the Labour Party accept Alex Salmond's offer.
They can claim much more than 'the SNP let in the Tories'.
They can claim Alex Salmond is backing Labour.
And let us remember the SNP voted with the Tories against Labour in Westminster.
And also the Tories voted with the SNP in Holyrood to get things done.
If Labour accept, I cannot see there being an SNP Government after 2011.
That is a heavy price to rubbish a claim, 'the SNP let in the Tories'.
I suspect the Lib Dems might pull off their voter reform but with the Tories.
I think we will see this election re-run later in the year or 2011.
The SNP made the claim 20 SNP MPs.
We got 6 MPs and lost John Mason, a very good MP.

Labour can't accept the offer. Well not without looking silly. For weeks they have been claiming that the SNP are irrelevant in Westminster. If they are helped into power on the back of SNP support, not coalition, then they lose that round.
Then there are their ill advised acceptance speeches to be dealt with. How silly would Murphy look if he was only a minister because the SNP allowed it? Dancing to a Scottish tune perhaps?
Labour ran on a ticket of stopping the Tories. They have been offered a chance to do this and turned it down. They didn't even do it politely.
You know the '79 claim was rubbish, Callaghan was going down no matter what, but lots of people fall for it. This time Labour were offered assistance and they chose a Tory government for the UK rather than accept help from the SNP. They allowed the 3rd and 4th place parties here to rule over the 1st and 2nd.
This is Alex Salmond you're looking at here. He doesn't get everything right but he has his eye a few moves ahead of the game.
Labour do not want another election. They can't afford it. They have one to run here in 2011 as it is.

Lucky for the SNP, Labour said no!
I know Alex doen't get everything right, who does.
The results in Glasgow were disappointing, our problem is defeating Labour, that is the Central Scotland Question.
One that has to be addressed by the SNP.
Seriously addressed.
Labour have to be sidelined and then attacked hard.
The SNP campaign lacked bite.
Being nice doesn't win elections, a joint positive/negative campaign is sorely needed.
Glenrothes, Glasgow North East and this campaign shows the 'we are SNP, we are nice' doesn't work.
People need reasons to vote SNP, we aren't giving them reasons.

Some voters in Glasgow may have to be left alone for just now and allowed to work it out for themselves. In time I'm sure they are capable of working out that the New Labour party is now a right wing authoritarian party and has nothing to do with Kier Hardy. The rest of Scotland can move on.

Jim, you are a little out of date since Mr Salmond is no longer an MP. He wasn't allowed to not accept the salary but he sent it all to a charity for the north east.
Kathy Jamieson has said something along the same lines, I haven't heard what Margaret Curran's plans are.
If you remember the the BBC debate he mentioned that he was the only party leader who did not have any findings against him in the expenses row.
