Former Labour MP Jim Devine declared bankrupt, Marion Kinley gets sequestration order so she can get her money, game, set and match Kinley

Dear All

Trouble is like buses, you never have any then it all comes at once.

Former Labour MP Jim Devine has been formally declared bankrupt.

This is the final nail in his political coffin before he pops off to HMP Longpoke or as some call it, Club Fed.

At a hearing at Livingston Sheriff Court, the insolvency order was made after Mr Devine failed to pay his former office manager Marion Kinley £35,000 for unfair dismissal.

What a shit.

Last year an employment tribunal heard how ‘bully’ Devine tried to make up stories about his former Office Manager Marion Kinley to justify firing her.

The former MP’s luck has run out.

Solicitors acting for Miss Kinley were granted a sequestration order against Mr Devine because he had not paid any of the £35,000 compensation he was ordered by a judge to pay her for constructive dismissal.

And now, the bankruptcy ruling means his home in Blackburn, West Lothian, and any other assets he owns will be put in the hands of a trustee.

Mrs Kinley, through her solicitor, said:

"I take no delight in the sequestration of Mr Devine. However, he has had five months to settle the award made by the tribunal and he has ignored every request. I was left with no alternative. The award is not compensation, it is money for loss of earnings and unpaid mileage which Mr Devine kept for himself throughout my employment. Obviously, the timing is not ideal with him being sentenced in a couple of weeks but he has known about this since October 2010."

Personally, I think she has nothing to explain let alone justify, she is owed the money, Devine has made no effort to pay and therefore she has taken the right course of action.

The continuing saga of Jim Devine is like a soap opera, the Labour Party selects a ‘bam’ and then the ‘bam’ acts out his nature.

Soon, he will be the ‘star’ of prisoner from Cell Block H, and I wonder if the same generosity will be extended to him with a transfer to an open prison.

Hopefully not!

Well done Marion Kinley.

Yours sincerely
