Dear All
Yapping Yousuf is a Labour Party activist, how good he is at that endeavour is anyone’s guess.
In between obviously enjoying himself, he sometimes by accident rather than design makes a point.
His latest attempt at humour and merriment is the recent poll which gives the Labour Party in Scotland a lead over the SNP for the Scottish Parliamentary elections.
Under the poll, Yousuf informs us that the “rather wonderful opinion poll for Scottish Labour” would give them 60 seats.
Not enough for a majority which would mean the Labour Party would end up calling on their old partners the Scottish Lib Dems to make up numbers for a majority or go it alone like the SNP did.
If Labour did get a majority given the situation in Westminster, I suspect they might go for minority government.
It would look politically ridiculous if the Lib Dems were in Government both north and south of the border siding with their partners’ political enemies.
And I am not sure that London Labour would allow it.
Clearly enjoying himself; Yousuf puts up a list of SNP Politicians who he hopes will lose their first past the post seats;
Nicola Sturgeon, Kenny Macaskill, Michael Matheson, Alasdair Allan, Angela Constance, Keith Brown, Tricia Mawick, Brian Adam, Bruce Crawford, Shona Robison, Joe Fitzpatrick, Willie Coffey and Kenny Gibson.
Mind you in his gloating, Yousuf has actually done these people a favour; he like many others is flagging up what some already know.
The SNP is in trouble.
On top of that the Labour Party has already singled out high profile SNP Ministers as specific targets.
On a previous blog I stated that the SNP needed to do specific targeting in Glasgow, so Labour seems to think politically like me on the way forward.
And lets us be absolutely clear, they are the ones who are winning the seats at present.
Everything is still to play for, the election is a year away and opinions can shift.
The poll doesn’t show the whole picture as certain MSPs will have built up a personal following among voters by their work and the best advert for an elected political can sometimes be a person they have helped.
Interesting times for the SNP in 2011!
Yours sincerely

Wee Eck better prepare to move out of Bute House as the new tenant Iain Gray will want to hit the ground running. SNP activists could help Eck and his wife shift their stuff. kicked oot after one term for everything else there is mastercard.

Your right(as ever) George Gloating is so nasty......Me i prefer some Schadenfreude
( Schadenfreude, a mischievous delight in the misfortunes of others, which remains the worst trait in human nature)
tis true so true but! juicy snigger! giggle!
Dear Mxyztlk
Schadenfreude is a good word, my mate uses it, when we are doing some yago between each other to try and get the 'moral' high ground.
He is a Labour supporter.
What I find concerning is how the SNP are sleepwalking towards the 2011 elections.
Popularity doesn't last is a message that I have tried to get out, falling on deaf ears.
Yours sincerely

When is Alex Salmond going to stand down as leader, defeat after defeat followed by impending defeat. Salmond is a liability to the SNP now.
