Labour MSP Iain Gray is seen as a dithering fool unable to make correct command decisions as English MPs back SNP alcohol policy

Dear All

Labour ‘leader’ Iain Gray starts 2010 looking like a complete fool.

As a fervent critic of the SNP Government’s minimum alcohol pricing policy, his floundering reputation received another torpedo as Labour and English MPs back the SNP idea to the hilt.

MPs on the Westminister Health Select Committee are calling for minimum pricing, a rise in duty on spirits and white cider and stricter regulation of advertising.

It seems that incompetent Iain Gray, London Labour’s man in Scotland can’t get anything right.

So out of step and out of touch!

With everyone and their brother climbing on board with the SNP’s policy, this is a major blow to the ‘wretched 46’ of the Labour Cabal in Holyrood.

When you back a donkey in a horse race, expect to come last!

One of the key planks of the ‘wretched 46’ is minimum pricing would penalise moderate drinkers, but the Health Select Committee rejected that as a myth.

It seems that as well as supporting the Scottish Government position that English cross party MPs by default are really going to town on small time provincial Gray.

Scotland has a serious alcohol problem but rather than help, the Labour Party has taken the petty lip and resisted change.

More bad new for Iain Gray as the British Medical Association welcomed the MP’s report.

Dr. Vivienne Nathanson said;

"This cosy relationship needs to end, and we need radical action to tackle alcohol misuse," said their ethics head.

Alison Rogers, chief executive of the British Liver Trust, said;

"This is a damning indictment of the way successive governments have tackled alcohol health harm, with action ranging from the non-existent to the ineffectual."

A direct reference to the Labour Party policy of sucking up to big business!

Don Shenkar, chief executive of Alcohol Concern said it beggars belief that the government was still "dithering".

For the Labour MSPs at Holyrood, the ‘wretched 46’, 2010 is starting to be the year of realisation.

The realisation that Iain Gray is the walking dead; he is the new Wendy Alexander character!

Yours sincerely
