Dear All
Each year the Scottish budget is passed at the Holyrood Parliament by MSPs.
This allows local authorities to plan their jobs, it is therefore essential that the budget process runs smoothly regardless of which party is the government.
Because of budget cuts imposed by Gordon Brown and the UK Labour Government, the SNP has had to cut its cloth very tightly.
As such they are concentrating on protecting frontline services for the people employed in them and those who use the services.
The Labour Party want the Scottish Government to fund a white elephant called the Glasgow Airport Rail Link.
In their campaign they have enlisted Labour front organisations to try and put the view this scheme has merit.
CBI Scotland, Scottish Chambers of Commerce, Federation of Small Businesses Scotland, Institute of Directors Scotland, Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI) and Scottish Financial Enterprise are all Labour supporting organisations.
There is no public support and despite attempts the Labour Party and cohorts haven’t managed to manufacture it either.
Down at the Labour Council of shame at Glasgow, broken record councillor, Steven ‘bin laden’ Purcell is trying to bounce the Scottish Government into backing this turkey with melodramatic rhetoric such as describing the decision as a “dagger to the heart of Glasgow”.
Question, why didn’t the last Labour Executive in power for 8 years not allocate funds to build the project if it is so essential for Glasgow?
Why didn’t the CBI Scotland, Scottish Chambers of Commerce, Federation of Small Businesses Scotland, Institute of Directors Scotland, Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI) and Scottish Financial Enterprise, all back before?
So, whose is to lose their jobs and services to pay for GARL?
The Labour Party won’t say or even acknowledge the issue; they want the SNP to destroy jobs and services on their behalf.
Purcell said;
“It’s crunch time for Mr Swinney. He either rips off Glasgow or listens to its citizens”.
I am a citizen of Glasgow, born and brought up in my city and I say no to GARL and so should the SNP Government.
Front line jobs and services are more important than a 10 minute choo choo train ride.

“It would bring 1300 jobs to the area at a time when we desperately need them, not to mention the fact the rail link would bring £300m of investment”.
These jobs would be temporary and less we forget the jobs cut to fund GARL would be permanent.
If the Labour Party in Scotland wants to destroy front line services in Scotland, then they should wait till they regain power at Holyrood.
Until then the SNP should stick to their guns.
The answer is no!
This stupidity is typical of Steven ‘bin laden’ Purcell and the Labour Council of shame, destroying people’s lives, jobs and services to help their friends in big business.
Yours sincerely
