Victoria Cross holder L/Cpl Johnson Beharry wanted to knock Gordon Brown out for 'disrespect' to dead during two minute silence at Remberence Day

Dear All

The Victoria Cross is the highest military honour awarded to the Armed Forces of Britain.

Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry is one holder of this medal, his bravery and loyalty is without question.

L/Cpl Beharry became the first living VC recipient since 1965 for twice braving enemy fire to save comrades' lives in Iraq six years ago.

He is yet another hero who has now spoken out about Gordon Brown’s respect for the Armed Forces.

While attending the Remembrance Day service last November L/Cpl Beharry was 'absolutely furious' at the way Mr Brown fidgeted and moved during the two-minute silence.

He said;

“All that was going through my head was to knock him out”.

This led Victoria Cross hero Johnson Beharry to refuse to shake Gordon Brown's hand in protest, when offered he simply turned around and walked away.

Beharry added;

“I decided I'd get his attention and let him know how I felt. When he offered his hand to me I just turned round and walked away. I wanted him to think about his actions and it worked.”

This is the latest in a long series of public falling outs between Brown and the Military

Beharry’s snub came a year after he attended a Downing Street reception during which he claimed the PM appeared 'totally disinterested' in him and other servicemen.

In an outburst about Gordon Brown as a man, he said;

“He's the PM. We in the military work for him. He should be setting an example. I can't get over how disrespectful he's been to us. His reaction to the uniform is terrible. It's not about me or my medal. It's all of us. We were representing the Army in front of him and he didn't seem to care less”.

The ever increasing gap between the Military and a serving Prime Minister is so unknown in modern British Politics but is a window on how the Forces feel about being badly let down by Gordon Brown and the New Labour Government.

I can think of no time when a Victoria Cross holder has uttered such public distain for a Prime Minister.

Do we want 5 more years of this “psychologically flawed” man running the British Government?

I suspect that the people do not, the Armed Forces have already delivered their verdict on Gordon Brown, unworthy of respect.

Yours sincerely
