Precious and Florence Mhango don't get a vote at the General Election but as part of the Cranhill community in Glasgow, they badly need your help

Dear All

It is General Election time, for people in political parties; it is pressure 24/7 trying to get their candidates elected.

Political Activists, elected Politicians and their staff are all out and about telling you about the ‘big’ picture.

I would like you for a moment take one step back, and think about something else, the small picture.

Precious and Florence Mhango, they are asylum seekers, Precious and her mum don’t get a vote this election.

I have posted on them before but I do so again because there is always one more thing to do to keep them safe.

Before Xmas the Home Secretary Alan Johnson to his credit released both Precious and her mum from the Yarls detention centre where they were being held subject to deportation to Malawi.

They need your help again because they still haven’t been granted leave to remain.

Precious and her mum stay in Cranhill area of Glasgow; were they are very much a part of the local community.

The election will throw up a lot of talk about community; help your neighbour and how we should think of others.

There are two ways that I would ask you to help.

Please donate money to the legal/campaigning fund at

Account:CRANHILL WORLD CAFÉ,
Sort Code:83 21 27 Account Number:10015466 Royal Bank of Scotland 1304 Duke Street, Glasgow G31 5PZ or by cheque to Cranhill Church, 109 Bellrock St Glasgow G31 5PZ

The other alternative is to write directly to the Home Secretary Alan Johnson and ask him to grant indefinite leave to remain.

This little girl and her mother have a case for staying which is legal and moral but in a Court of Law sometimes the correct decision doesn’t always prevail and people suffer.

His address is;

Rt Hon Alan Johnson MP
Home Secretary
Home Office
Direct Communications Unit2
Marsham StreetLondon
SW1P 4DF

You only get so many chances to help someone; for this you will get no reward, no recognition or praise but the satisfaction you did the right thing.

Precious and Florence Mhango don’t have a vote but they can have with your help a powerful voice.

Yours sincerely
