Europe at War: President Hollande says France is now at war with so-called Islamic State terrorists after Father Jacques Hamel, an 85-year-old priest was brutally murdered in his Normandy church attack while holding mass, his killers shot dead by French Police, France’s attitude is hardening

Dear All

Europe is in a state of de facto war, it has been for some time, we have seen Islamic terrorism spread right across the continent.

We saw the horror of Paris, we saw the slaughter in Nice, the multiple attacks in Germany, and now we have the slaughter of a Catholic Priest who had his throat slit in his own Church in the quiet Normandy village of Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray, near Rouen.

Civil war is coming to Europe, President Hollande says France now at war with so-called Islamic State terrorists. Unlike conventional warfare, there are no front lines; the enemy has been allowed to live in our society. They have formed no go areas in places they have made ghettos to breed distrust, recruit for terrorism and then act.

Politicians have said they are ignorant, how could they know this situation could have developed, well the people knew, that is why they are angry, not just in France but right across Europe.

My post of Dec 2015 makes it clear detention camps needs to be built in Europe.

If anything is going to bring to power the rise of the far right, this situation is tailor made to do so, keep an eye on Austria, the far right may take the Government since the election is being re-run.

Father Jacques Hamel, an 84-year-old priest in the quiet Normandy village of Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray, near Rouen didn’t deserve to die; he was a good man who devoted his life to the service of God and others.

His throat was slit in his own church.

Father Jacques Hamel was saying morning mass when two Islamic killers stormed in and took him and other people hostage, the terrorist pleased with their efforts decided to film the event, perhaps they wanted their handiwork to be posted on social media sites to encourage others to join their cause.

In what must be an embarrassing security lapse which will come back to haunt the Hollande Government, one of the terrorists, a 19-year-old trying unsuccessfully to travel to Syria to fight with IS.

Why was he allowed to walk the streets when the French knew he planned to be a terrorist?

Why did they think that having been in prison that an electronic tag would act as a deterrent?

Are these people who made the decision to let him out, plainly stupid?

The two Islamic terrorists had a rather short jihad, the police shot them dead as they attempted to leave the building.

The French it appears now have hardened their attitude to terrorism; it is shot to kill and taking no prisoners.

A nun named as Sister Danielle held captive said afterwards:

"They forced him to his knees. He wanted to defend himself and that's when the tragedy happened. They recorded themselves. They did a sort of sermon around the altar in Arabic. It's a horror."

Europe will never be the same again, and it is only a matter of time before the backlash begins, what is needed in Europe is new leadership; the failure of the present political class is painfully obvious.

Father Jacques Hamel, an 85-year-old priest will be a huge loss not just to the quiet Normandy village of Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray but to France.

Yours sincerely

EXCELLENT piece George .

I fear for my hindu mates who may get got up in the backlash

I got told that just recently the military ( SAS?)caught 3 or 4 Glasgow born Muslims living in a big house with their extended family with guns in their car.

They were allegedly coming back from a European football match.

Were they going to attack a local school where they are all bused into ?

Who knows as A blanket ban has been put on the news.

yours
C

SNP policy of free movement of people across Europe will kill their popularity in Scotland. I haven't spoken to one person who agrees with this. Couple that with a Police Scotland survey saying that terrorism is the biggest fear for citizens in Scotland shows the SNP are way off mark with this dubious policy.
I bet Nicola wishes she hadn't made that speech the other day.

I remember saying to my friends and family how it was a stupid idea, but they seemed to um and ah. When I said (to paraphrase) "what did I tell you?" they just wittered on about hindsight. The infuriating thing is that many of us KNEW, like you said, George, we KNEW that this was a risk, but we were surrounded by stupid people whinging on about the "right-wing" (I'm centre left) and the "refugees welcome" and the "backlash" other than, oh I don't know, people getting in unvetted who might do something like this. And now our warnings have not been heeded and we have the situation that could've been prevented if the selfish virtue-signallers had listened to us in the first place.

Sorry to rant on George, but I am so angry about this, and I mentioned how someone I care about is on the continent at the moment.

Hello George

Yet another excellent blog. In your blog of December 2015 you drew attention to how out of touch merkel was. Even now, she is continuing to defend her migrant policy despite the rising anger of germans and others in Europe. Europe will struggle with the migrant legacy for a very long time. Germans must now insist that merkel quits office. As you said, she cannot be part of the solution to the colossal problem which she created. She is guilty of criminal negligence on a truly epic scale.

Hi Auld Jock

You are right Merkel must go, Europe needs a different sort of leader to sort out this problem, and that means detention camps and deportation.

Either the politicians will sort it out or the people will rise up.

When that happens you can see what I have said being played out right across Europe.

Sadly innocent people will die.

Merkel made a hell of a mess.

People have the right to be angry, we all have been let down by the political class rather badly not just on this issue but right across the board. Our political servants think they are our political masters.

It's not terrorism it is the waging of Jihad by political Islam.

Very true, George. Elitism. The arts groups (actors, screenwriters, producers, directors, comedians etc) are at it as well.
