Scottish independence: Catalan president Artur Mas drives a huge nail into the political coffin of Scotland’s 'jolly fat man’ Alex Salmond on EU membership, Salmond and unpopular Nicola Sturgeon completely out of their depth on the World stage

Dear All

'Hey Gringo, you are full of shit'!

Yes, Scotland's 'jolly fat man' Alex Salmond isn't doing terribly well in his 'quest' to convince anyone that he and the increasingly unpopular Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon know what they are talking about regarding European Union membership.

Salmond’s claim that Scotland would remain in the EU after independence has been dealt a severe blow by the leader of the movement to split Catalonia from Spain.

In Catalonia, there is a hugely popular independence movement, at one stage, about 1.5 million people marched for independence, in Scotland, the best that Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon could get was about 8,500 according to Police figures.

In the SNP, there are about 25,000 members, so what does it say that Salmond and Sturgeon can't get the majority of the SNP to march for independence?

I would say that it signals the majority don't believe in them, the SNP is a party within a party.

It doesn't stand for fairness, equality or social justice; it is turning Scotland according to Professor Alistair Bonnington into a Police State.

Fascism!

Catalan president Artur Mas has aid that Scottish independence could mean exclusion from the EU.

The SNP leadership who are lazy, ignorant and stupid didn't bother to do any work, just like they didn't bother to do any other work in preparation for a proper independence bid. No Scottish Government reform and no Scottish local Government reform. Having thought that Scottish independence could be done by the stupid smug look on Salmond's face, it all came crashing down around their ears.

If Scotland was to become independent, the new state would need to re-negotiate European membership from scratch, there would be no British opt outs transferred across.

Because there is no contract, Salmond has an excuse not being a lawyer, but what is Scotland's unpopular Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon's?

She graduated in Law at University of Glasgow, and there are other lawyers in the SNP Cabinet, what is their excuse as well?
Plain shit at law?

Don't understand what a legal contract is?

Salmond and Sturgeon have put forward an argument to support their position, this doesn't mean it is valid, it just means they have cobbled together a story.

That story is bullshit!!!!!!

In an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, the Catalan president Artur Mas suggests thatCatalonia would not be an automatic member of the EU either, there is such a thing as a veto.

Previously Salmond and Sturgeon punted the falsehood that Scotland would automatically be a member in the event of a Yes vote with some paperwork issues to resolve. It was presented a technical hitch that people need not worry about.

Mas said:

“I have given thought to the idea that in the initial moment between the referendum and the proclamation of the independence we could remain outside of Europe. This would be a shame because we want to remain in the EU. We would need to find a transitional regime to avoid expulsion from the EU.”

He must know that Spain won't play ball on that one, they would most certainly opt for use of their veto rights as laid down in the treaty.

Mas is the leader of the centre right Convergence and Union Party. Centre right parties are becoming more popular across Europe of late, as well as his group, he has managed to get other parties on side, something that Salmond has so far failed to do.

And yes, I am talking about Scottish Labour, Scottish Conservatives and the Scottish Lib Dems. Salmond did manage to get the SSP and the Scottish Greens to sign up, these are seen as fringe parties.

In Spain, the Spanish Government is not going along with the mood in Catalonia, their position is that Mas' Government holding a poll would be illegal. Unlike London, they aren't giving the people a chance to have a say.

For Unionists in the UK, the comments by the Catalan president Artur Mas are a gift that supports their position that Salmond and Sturgeon are very much out of their depth on independence.

It is another hole below the water line of the 'Rat ship' run by the SNP leadership, they are sinking steadily and surely from torpedos.

"High speed screw torpedo in the water"!

From the movie, The Hunt for Red October for those who are film buffs!

Scottish Secretary, Alistair Carmichael, said:

“I welcome the thoughtful position of Catalan president Artur Mas that if Catalonia were to leave Spain it would be out of the EU and have to re-apply for membership. That reflects the EU position and it reflects our legal advice. Surely now is the time for the First Minister to take his fingers out of his ears and listen to what Mas is saying, what Rajoy is saying, what Van Rompuy is saying and what Barroso is saying.”

Although Carmicahel isn't great or a patch on Michael Moore, he does have a point, albeit someone is probably feeding him a script.

Last month, the Spanish prime minister Mariano Rajoy said that an independent Scotland would have to reapply for EU membership.

He is right!

Similar views has been expressed by Herman Van Rompuy, the president of the European Commission, and EC President Jose Manuel Barroso.

They are right as well, at its heart, this is a contract law matter, strip out he said this , she said that and other people flung in their two cents worth, it comes back to law, no matter how much embellishment is placed on it.

Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson said:

“Alex Salmond has found himself completely isolated on Europe. Now even the nationalist president ofCatalonia, who is leading his own drive for independence, says that leaving Spain means leaving the EU. Alex Salmond cannot keep saying everyone else is wrong and he is right. These realistic assessments are in stark contrast to Alex Salmond’s record of misleading Scots voters on the EU issue. If only Alex Salmond was as honest as his Catalan counterpart.”

Gosh, how many people is that questioning the honesty of Alex Salmond now?

A mouthpiece for unpopular Nicola Sturgeon said:

“Better Together should make a New Year resolution to stop these silly scare stories. These reported comments are clearly and explicitly about the situation in Spain and Catalonia not about Scotland, where the constitutional circumstances are very different, as enshrined in the Edinburgh Agreement".

Ah, the 'famous' Edinburgh Agreement, this is a red herring, meaningless tat, what the Edinburgh agreement guarantees is that Scotland can hold a referendum.

That's it!

And it isn't much more than that.

What happens if an EU member was to veto Scotland's membership?

Well that means that no negotiations can take place, although the UK Government’s own legal adviser passed a comment that the time scale was ‘realistic’ regarding 18 months, that isn't a fact, that isn't an agreement, that is an opinion and only an opinion.

It seems the leadership of Scotland's 'jolly fat man' Alex Salmond and Scotland's unpopular Deputy First Minister Nicola Surgeon still wish to treat the people of Scotland as mugs!

This must be because there are so many stupid ignorant people in the SNP that the leadership must think everyone is as dense as they are and can be hoodwinked.

We can't be Cabron!

Yours sincerely

your comment about the referendum being about holding a referendum is spot on.

It does not mean that even if the 'Yes' campaign were successful then Westminister will simply roll over and cave in to the 670 page SNP wish list.

At that point the SNP will be exposed for what they are...

Opportunists, with no thought of the long term consequences...
