Labour councillor of shame Stephen Dornan is a good eater, I have seen him in GCC Councillor’s dining room, how’s that ‘Labour’ chop Stephen?

Dear All

The cull of Labour Councillors of shame continues unabated as the Labour Party at Glasgow City Council sees more big names kicked out the door and dumped unceremoniously on their ass out the door.

17 of 47 Labour councillors have been told they have not been selected as potential candidates.

That number is huge and a sign that the Labour Party is going to put up the hardest fight of their political lives to try and hold onto the city of Glasgow from their nearest rivals the SNP.

And we aren't talking the general dog’s bodies either James McNally, the former head of the licensing board, city treasurer and executive member for roads and parks.

Out!

Stephen Dornan, current licensing board chairman.

Out!

Jim Todd, chair of council-owned firm City Building.

Out!

The cull is said to be driven by London, with input from some local key players.

One party source said:

“The guy from London, Ken Clark, has done this across the London boroughs and knows all the backgrounds of those being interviewed. If he’s in your interview, it’s bad. They’ve been savage and in all my years in politics I’ve never known anything as brutal.”

On Twitter, the joke is that when some Labour Councillors of shame were asked about the Nolan principles (standards in public life), some have been said to have talked about the Nolan sisters, the former girl group.

Journalists can be so cruel sometimes.

Senior figures within Glasgow City Council’s Labour group have told of colleagues being visibly upset.

That is understandable, but in politics, few people are your real friends.

For some their political careers are dead.

Potential replacements to the fallen are said to include former MSPs Frank McAveety and Bill Butler, ex-councillor Chris Kelly, James Adams, who works with Anas Sarwar, Soryia Siddique, a lecturer at Cardonald College, and Aileen McKenzie, another ally of the Sarwar dynasty.

A Labour spokesman said:

“We have had huge interest from party members in Glasgow, with over 100 applying to stand for the council for Labour, so competition is tougher than in previous years. Labour will be fielding Glasgow’s finest in May but we are taking nothing for granted.”

So, it seems that there is a total rebranding going on with the Glasgow Labour Party to hold onto the city of Glasgow.

As the cull continues, the numbers are said to be going to top 25, some people thought they would have a job for life, they are finding out otherwise.

Imagine not knowing about the Nolan principles, they are the standards expected in public life by elected representatives.

In case any Labour Councillor doesn’t know them here they are:

Selflessness

Holders of public office should take decisions solely in terms of the public interest. They should not do so in order to gain financial or other material benefits for themselves, their family, or their friends.

Integrity

Holders of public office should not place themselves under any financial or other obligation to outside individuals or organisations that might influence them in the performance of their official duties.

Objectivity
In carrying out public business, including making public appointments, awarding contracts, or recommending individuals for rewards and benefits, holders of public office should make choices on merit.

Accountability

Holders of public office are accountable for their decisions and actions to the public and must submit themselves to whatever scrutiny is appropriate to their office.

Openness

Holders of public office should be as open as possible about all the decisions and actions that they take. They should give reasons for their decisions and restrict information only when the wider public interest clearly demands.

Honesty

Holders of public office have a duty to declare any private interests relating to their public duties and to take steps to resolve any conflicts arising in a way that protects the public interest.

Leadership

Holders of public office should promote and support these principles by leadership and example.

These principles could be shortened down to do you have commonsense.

Gordon ‘free dinners’ Matheson seems safe as does Stephen Curran.

The fight for Glasgow will be very hard for those political activists who will be willing to get involved in it.

Yours sincerely

No wonder that they are visibly upset. They will be on the dole, after years of having their trotters in the swill bin... and, thanks largely to their own party, that dole is no longer very forgiving or gentle. It has a tendency to be on the cruel side.

Oh dear, as ye sew, so shall ye reap.

And it's a very well deserved goodbye from Tommy Morrison. Last year, in his capacity as Vice Convener of Strathclyde Fire & Rescue's Fire Board, Tommy and pals treated themselves to an 'Inspection' of Arran's part time fire stations. This of course entailed staying in one of Arran's finest hotels and carrying out further inspections of the islands distillery and brewery.
They were photographed by one the tabloids coming out of such an establishment with a supply of their finest produce in hand no doubt to relieve the pressures and stresses of such a demanding job. At the exact time they (Strathclyde Fire & Rescue and Fire Board members)were seen leaving the building, a remembrance service was being held at the Glasgow Necropolis in memory of seven Glasgow Firemen who were killed in the line of duty at a fire in Kilbirnie Street on 25th August 1972. I speak for many who are glad to see the back of you Tommy.

I have been browsing online more than three hours as of late, but I by
no means found any attention-grabbing article like yours. It's beautiful price sufficient for me.

In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made just right content as you
probably did, the internet can be much more useful than ever before.
