Under the Human Rights Act 1998, the SNP Government has a duty to protect this child

Dear All

Immigration is a touchy subject as the ground is often polarised between two extremes.

Anne McLaughlin, SNP MSP has written to the UK Immigration Minister to complain about the detention of Florence and Precious Mhango, from Malawi.

Ms McLaughlin is writing to Phil Woolas in the hope that both the mother and child can be released on humanitarian grounds.

I think given the circumstances and the potential for harm to the child that it would be appropriate to grant such a request.

The reason that UK Border Agency gets to act in the matter it does it because the SNP Government doesn’t stand up enough on humanitarian issues.

We should have the courage to stand up and say no to Westminister.

Let us be less understanding instead of being accepting.

Under the Human Rights Act 1998, we have a clear obligation to protect this little girl from torture, if returned she runs the risk of risk of possible female genital mutilation.

Perhaps it is time that Elish Angiolini earned her money.

If the deportation goes ahead then the SNP Government should remove the status of Dungavel by whatever means and have these institutions off our soil.

It is time the SNP started to act like an aggressive opposition party in Westminister politics again.
Yours sincerely
