When the Labour Government rip you off for £300 million, is it not time to stand up for ourselves?

Dear All

Throughout the Glasgow North East by-election campaign, William Bain has been like the little boy who cried ‘wolf’, in his case he has been spoon fed to shout “rip off” by his London Labour Masters who run his campaign.

But let’s talk about the real rip off of Glasgow and its people by the UK Labour Government.

So what are we talking about?

£300 million pounds!

SNP Candidate David Kerr hit the nail on the head when he asked Labour to explain why the UK Government has failed to hand over £300 million due to the city for regeneration. London Labour is spending £12 billion on the Olympic Games.

Part of that is Scottish lottery money.

But the UK Labour Government is steadfastly refusing the £300 million in Barnett consequential that should come to Scotland and to Glasgow.

It’s a fact.

Even House of Lords Select Committee on the Barnett formula led by Labour peer Lord Richard has said that the formula had been by-passed and that £300 million should have been handed over by the Labour in London to Scotland.

So, Glasgow is losing out but you never hear a word from Labour Candidate William Bain who declared he will fight for Glasgow.

Why is Bain silent?

SNP Candidate David Kerr said;

“This is Labour’s real rip off. While they spend £12 billion on the Olympics there is nothing coming from the Labour Government towards Glasgow’s games. Glasgow has been deprived of £300 million by the London Labour Government who refuse to pay up the money this city is due.Where regeneration money has been spent on London’s East End for the Olympics the UK Government should have paid the equivalent amount £300 million to Scotland for the Glasgow games".

David Kerr added;

“Why shouldn’t Glasgow be treated the same as London?”

I would suggest the answer is that the people of Scotland are seen as second class citizens.

Another fact worth mentioning is that the SNP is meeting 80% of the costs of the Commonwealth Games and investing hundreds of millions of pounds in regenerating the East End of Glasgow.

So, who is ripping off whom?

This Thursday the people of Glasgow North East have an opportunity to seen a message, that message should be that they are not prepared to listen to Labour lies.

Surely 74 years of neglect is enough, it’s time to start over.

David Kerr will make that change and fight for Glasgow North East because a lot needs done immediately.

Yours sincerely
