Everyone will at some point go along to see the doctor with some illness, sickness or bug.
Because of the nature of their job; we expect the highest standards of ethics from them and others in the medical profession.
Dr Steven Ashenford has rightly been struck off the medical register for abuse his position of trust by having a teenage patient perform a sex act on him. The teenager who has learning difficulties was used for his own personal gratification.
The disciplinary panel found that AshenFord had acted in the ‘most reprehensible way' and this is highly educated man less we forget.
Dr Ashenford used his position to strike up a friendship with the girl during appointments at the Sutton Hill Medical Practice in Telford, Shropshire. She was attending his surgery to get treatment for acne and back problems.
During one consultation in March 2007 he touched her breasts, a week later he told her to remove her top and perform oral sex on him, the General Medical Council hearing was told.
He was arrested in October 2007 when his activities came to light on suspicion that he had raped the girl.
No charges were brought by police.
Dr Ashenford denied any sexual relationship with the girl, known as Patient E, but admitted at his hearing he had sex with two other patients while working at Oakengates Medical Practice in Telford in 2006 and at Sutton Hill a year later.
It seems like Anthony Barton; he thought his position was one in which he could do as he pleased.
Another odd incident was his friendship with an 11-year-old girl when he worked at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford. He would send her text messages each day and made social arrangements with her mother.
It seems that Ashenford was involved in an unhappy marriage to an older Russian woman coupled with a daughter who herself was unwell having suffered brain damage at birth.
A shrink who examined Dr Ashenford in February this year concluded he had a 'narcissistic' and 'fundamentally flawed' personality.
This begs the question how he managed to pass the interview at Aberdeen University to get into medical school?
Panel chairman Ralph Bergmann in Manchester said the doctor's overall conduct was;
“so grave as to be fundamentally incompatible with continued registration”.
Another case of a guy who had the potential for a very good life and threw it all away!

It should be remembered that the GMC uses the standard of "balance of probability" rather than "beyond reasonable doubt" so there is at least a real chance that the final allegation was false. I think due to the other things he admitted to he did need to be struck off for the sake of the profession but in seems cruel to hound a obviously very troubled person.
Hmmm how many times does the girl involved have to cry rape falsely before she is arrested for messing up innocent mens lives. She has done this before but as she has special needs she is protected by social services and not allowed to be named. Also all the comments in the press were from the opening statement from the prosection which had yet to be proven or defended. If the press had stayed for the defense statements they would have heard about how she changed her story 3 times !!! How dr ashenford was severly depressed as his ex wife was very very nasty with the divorce and used their disabled child as a pawn. How he admitted he had 2 consensual affairs , yes consensual !!! But this nutter stalked him and when he said no she cried rape .

Do tell then! Hope you went to the police. I've known steve for years and also know there are two sides to every story but also how the police manipulated some of the women he had flings with into feeling used when he was just a tart!
Sounds like he was rightly struck off for having relationships with patients as there should always be professional distance, but there is a big jump between doing that and being accused of rape.I wonder did any of these women have a gun put to their head when giving out numbers etc?? Too many women out there being allowed to accuse men of rape falsely. From what i read in papers the criminal prosecution service didn't persue the case, what does that indicate ??
i knew dr ashenford the problem he had he was to nice woman used to throw themselves at him once in hospital a patient went and had her hair done before his ward round i am a woman and he always treated me with respect he was friendly and approachable not like some doctors
Great to see some support out there. Steve is a wonderful man and i am privilidged to call him my soulmate . We are getting marreid next year and have just had our first little girl together who is just 5 weeks old .He is getting his life back on track and we are so happy . It has taken a lot of strength and love and support over the last 3 years but slowly the past can be left behind and those who sought to destroy him are fading away . he is a gentle kind man and a wonderful partner and father.
