Parish Councillor banned from public office for 18 months after racking up 177 complaints costing £160,000 and not one upheld!

Dear All

Everyone expects their local councillor to take up their complaints; after all it is what we expect them to do on our behalf.

Chris Byrne on the other hand is a serial complainer as a parish councillor; he is responsible for squandered tens of thousands of pounds of taxpayers’ money by making 177 complaints.

His track record is impressive, on average he was making 30 complaints a day against members of the four parish councils on which he sat on.

His complaints investigated were found to be without foundation.

You would think that having taken on public office; he would have used the position wisely in the interests of those who elected him, apparently not.

The Adjudication Panel for England has ruled against and banned Mr Byrne from holding public office for 18 months.

In their investigation the panel found him guilty on numerous complaints that he had failed to show respect for other councillors, made unsubstantiated allegations of dishonesty, used insulting language and of conduct that amounted to bullying.

Their ruling was that his behaviour had brought his office as a councillor and the parish council into disrepute.

Eddie Farley, leader of Compton Bishop parish council, said;

“This is a regrettable situation but something Mr Byrne brought upon himself.”

If anything, Mr. Bryne should reflect on his past conduct if he wishes to stand again in the future.

I personally find his story rather funny and wonder if he ever managed to get round to helping those who elected him?

Yours sincerely
