Dear All
I am not a fan of Wendy Alexander.
She is a complete arse.
I remember from my days at Glasgow University, she got Kit Kat banned from being sold at Glasgow University shops on Campus.
Then there was a notice put up to explain why she got Kit Kat banned.
As if anyone was interested in her opinion.
Even at an early age she exhibited a startling lack of judgment with her student union bullshit politics and her big gob.
I liked Kit Kat.
BASF, the German chemicals company have announced 232 redundancies at its Ciba plant which manufactures synthetic dyes for paints and plastics in Paisley.
So, up pops Wendy Alexander to cry out;
“I will be urging the Scottish Government and the company itself to explore alternatives to redundancy and [to] try to find a way forward.”
For a minute, I thought she was going to commit herself to work instead of talk!
What was I thinking of?
She added of the BASF announcement;
“Everything possible must be done to prevent these jobs from being lost”.
Job done, she probably retired to her cushy west end gym in the hope that the Scottish Government would do the work then she would jump back in for the credit .
Peter Wormald, the Paisley BASF site manager, said;
“This restructuring will reposition the site as a highly utilised, competitive manufacturing supply point in Europe. These changes will result in a smaller BASF site, but one that is more sustainable in the long term”.
So, another Wendy Alexander campaign draws to an end, unable to achieve any objectives.
At some stage I would reckon post redundancies and when the dust settles she will claim credit for saving the 120 jobs left at the site.
Wendy Alexander fought the fight to save jobs at BASF Paisley.
And lost!
Yours sincerely

Hate to act as pedants corner, but the Ciba plant is in the constituancy of Hugh Henry, not Wendy Alexander.
Still useless right enough...
