Scottish independence: Alex Salmond’s delusion that English businesses would force Westminster into a currency union blow up in his face as English businesses reject currency union plan, SNP must publish in detail Plan B, SNP are utterly incapable of leading Scotland to independence under Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon

Dear All

In real terms, Alex Salmond is finished as a political force in politics; he is still a big fish in a small Scottish pond for the time being until working class Scots get rid of him.

And he has to go.

The Scottish National Party is being used a vehicle for the Alex Salmond Party, a vicious nasty clique that pollutes the Nationalist community in Scotland.

And they don’t have talent; no work was done to prepare Scotland for independence, no radical reform.

A key plank of reform was supposed to be work done for a Scottish currency; Salmond opted for a sham of saying to Scots that they could keep the pound.

A promise he had no right to make or can keep, he has no say, it is and always will remain a province of the Westminster Government.

Equally in other key areas such as the EU and Nato, he is utterly clueless.

Salmond said it was commonsense for Westminster and the English people to go into a currency union.

Well that nonsense has well and truly hit the buffers as English businesses have reject Salmond's currency union plan.

This means that Salmond and unpopular Nicola Sturgeon now have to lay out Plan B, and plan B is a Scottish currency. Already we know that Scotland will lose Triple AAA rating and will be marked down.

That means cost of borrowing rises for the Scottish Government if independence and it is hard to sell Scottish debt on the open market.

Alex Salmond’s bogus claim the remainder of the UK would agree to share the pound with an independent Scotland has been undermined by the very people he says would welcome it with open arms.

A new survey shows that only a third of businesses south of the Border support the plan.

The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) poll of 2,400 of its members in England, Wales and Northern Ireland found only 35 per cent think a formal currency union would be in their best interests.

An interestingly 85% of businesses think Scotland should remain part of the UK, Salmond and Sturgeon only managed to convince a miserable 11%.

How long have they been campaigning for independence?

How long has their bogus campaign using Yes Scotland been running?

11%.

As I said, a real lack of talent in the SNP.

It’s a one man band run using the cult of personality, a failed idea that doesn’t promote ideas.

After being told no, Salmond insisted the three main UK parties were bluffing by ruling out a currency union.

No, they are not, no party is entering the Westminster 2015 without reaffirming that point, they will speak out again, the closer the independence vote draws near.

They entered a pact and no one can get out of it.

Salmond’s argument was that it would be in the best interests of the English, Welsh and Northern Irish and they would rally together and force a change from Westminster.

There will be no eurozone-style deal.

As to the wider population, only 23 per cent of voters south of the Border support a deal to share the pound.

John Longworth, the BCC’s director general, said:

“In the event of a Yes vote, cross-border trading and currency arrangements loom large in businesses’ thinking. Business communities across the UK have diverse views on the Scottish independence debate. Yet one thing is for certain. Regardless of how Scotland votes in September, things will never be quite the same again.”

The new poll is in line with a similar survey by the Scottish Chambers of Commerce, they aren’t buying into Salmond and Sturgeon’s poisonous vision.

They say nearly one in five companies north of the Border are either intending to or considering leaving Scotland if there is a Yes vote.

I wrote an article on what I described as ‘white collar flight’ if there is a Yes vote in September’s referendum.

Ian Murray MP, Labour’s Shadow Business Minister, said:

“Hundreds of thousands of Scots are employed by firms based elsewhere in the UK, so it's important that the voice of these large employers is heard in this debate. Our UK single market means that businesses can sell their goods throughout the whole of the UK without any barriers between them and their customers. Why would we want to put that at risk?”

Now, Salmond must publish Plan B, which is now Plan A, funny how things seem to be coming round to the George Laird view.

Right at the start, I have always said it must be a Scottish currency, Salmond will probably continue to sell the con of a currency union, he can’t really change course now and doesn’t want to admit he was wrong!

Scottish independence was lost long ago due to stupidity, arrogance and lying.

Time for a couple of quotes:

“My problem is that I have too many talented people and not enough Cabinet positions”.

Alex Salmond.

“Rather than 'The A Team' it looked more like 'The GAY Team' in nature”

George Laird.

Everything Alex Salmond and unpopular Nicola Sturgeon got wrong of note, George Laird got right.

Yours sincerely

  1. Yes it will increase costs for English business's. But they will simply pass these costs onto Scottish consumers. Your quite right.. the SNP have made a complete arse of this campaign.
Everything will not be alright on the night.

  2. Reminds me of the "North American Union" talk in the early '90s, only in reverse here across the pond.

The idea of a currency union was floated around quietly and got pretty much the same level of acceptance in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Regarding Alex Salmond, as the saying goes, "No one gives a rat's ass about asshats playing the bugle."
