It must be hard for Scotland’s ‘jolly fat
man’ Alex Salmond these days, his entire Scottish independence campaign is one
massive flop.
One of his major mistakes was to put
Scotland’s unpopular Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon as the ‘face of
independence’.
Despite her ‘fighting for Scotland’ for a
full year under the guise of Yes Scotland, she has got nowhere, in fact there are
clear signs that she has let support go backwards.
Ms. Sturgeon says her ‘nationalism’ is
based on ‘social justice’.
What kind of social justice campaigner
leaves Scots women to die of cancer because they can’t get the proper cancer
drugs, drugs that are available in England.
Think about that for a moment.

Before her poor efforts as Health Secretary
surfaced in the public domain, the Scottish National Party or to be more
precise Alex Salmond moved her out of health to front the indy campaign.
Given the state of the Scottish NHS, there
is an argument for returning her back to health to do the job that she was paid
for, only this time do it right.
Yesterday Alex Salmond was hit by a
double blow in the polls.
Alex Salmond, the supposed master strategist of the SNP is
on the clock, the countdown to political death at the ballot box, is now the slow
death by 365 days cuts.
The results of two surveys show no increase
in support for independence over the last four months and other was worse, a
huge majority of young people supporting the Union.
Alex Salmond likes to surround himself with
young people at launches, this is to give the appearance that the youth of
Scotland see him as an inspirational leader.
The reality is that Salmond is a populist
and his adoring fans are his own SNP members, despite going the populist route,
Salmond’s popularity is based on the fact the opposition in the Scottish
parliament is so weak.
You may have noticed that the SNP
leadership likes to surround themselves in some cases with idiots, drones who
are mentally dense, the worse the dullard the better the leader looks.

A new Ipsos Mori poll revealed yesterday
that 31% would vote Yes to independence next year.
The bad news is that 59% plan to vote No.
Even if Scotland’s unpopular Deputy First
Minister Nicola Sturgeon was to get everyone who is sitting on the fence to
vote Yes; she would be nowhere near an independence win.
Apparently the SNP monitor what I write, so
for their behalf, and for them to run back to Nicola Sturgeon, I would say this
to you, have you noticed that Nicola is looking a bit like she has been eating
too much comfort food of late.
Just because Alex Salmond is a bust couch, with
his gut hanging out all over the place, that is not a qualification for
leadership.
Too many puddings Nicola or have you been
battering the pies or curries?
The indy figures make grim reading for the
SNP, their summer of campaigning and a series of speeches by Alex Salmond on
the case for independence haven’t worked, and the reason why is simple, people
don’t believe a bloody word of it.
It seems that a man married to a woman old
enough to be his mother is facing the biggest political defeat in the history of
the Scottish National Party.
Maybe someone should have taught Salmond
better ethics.
Maybe someone should have taught Salmond that
acting like a bam in Holyrood turns people off.
He has had little effect on people’s voting
behaviour.
To add a cherry on top of the ‘day of endless hell’
for Salmond, and another setback for the independence campaign, a mock
referendum of more than 11,000 schoolchildren eligible to vote returned a massive
75% No vote.
In his own political backyard up North in Aberdeenshire,
24.5% thought independence is a good idea.
In Holyrood, Salmond has latched onto the
Tory catchphrase that voting for independence was a “common-sense position
based on experience.”
So; Scots lack commonsense?
The old boy is getting increasingly more
delusional, when will he order his storm troopers to take the cities and towns
of Scotland winning hearts and minds?
The 'army' doesn't exists!
In my experience among the SNP there is a
deep sense of ignorance in the party, and the leadership keep it that, now when
intelligence and training are needed it is sorely missed.
In TV shows on indy, when the ‘bams’ scream
and shout such as we saw at the Fruit market debate, you just sit there asking
yourself, how does their bodies manage to produce enough electrical impulses to
power them about the place.
The use of ‘bams’ is one of my pet hates in
this campaign, a halfwit gets bevved up and then screams “traitors” and “quislings”
to disrupt Better Together events.
I witnessed this at the Mitchell theatre,
outside stood an SNP Cllr David Turner, not a General in any sense of the word, more a lance
corporal type in charge of the naafi.
Back to money, a new report by the
respected Institute for Fiscal Studies reveals that an independent Scotland may
need to inflict cuts of up to £5.9 billion.
There will be no Nordic welfare, austerity is
here for the next decade, if independent, Scotland would have real problems on
finance; we could face a situation like we have seen in Southern Countries of
the EU such as Greece.
Scottish Labour leader Johann Lamont said:
“It is the politics of nationalism looking
for a justification.”
On Saturday, pro-independence supporters
are set to gather at Calton Hill for a rally backing a Yes vote.
Let’s hope they get good weather, the last
time they held a rally, they attracted 5,000 people; there are 25,000 SNP
members.
Salmond and Sturgeon can’t get their own
members to turn up, and they certainly don’t turn out to work for him or
Sturgeon, there is an issue of trust.
The games is over, some people like Blair
Jenkins keep trying to be positive, but as the old saying goes when enough
people tell you that you are drunk, you best sit your arse down.
The campaign for Scottish independence is
over, no George Laird radical thinking, none at all.
