‘East Coast Weasel’ Labour MSP Iain Gray is a desperate man clutching at straws.
In what can be describes as a bit of Déjà vu, Iain Gray is returning to ‘tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime’ by unveiling plans to revive Asbos.
This is part of a crackdown on antisocial behaviour.
Asbos are a blunt tool which the current Scottish Government has moved away from.
Prime Minister David Cameron has also branded them a failure.
It seems that even before the ‘short’ campaign beings and the fight to the political death will begin Iain Gray is still living up to his ‘Pop Gun’ reputation.
Gray said: "Time and time again, people are telling us that they are sick to the back teeth of antisocial behaviour but don't bother reporting it because they don't think anything will get done. That needs to change."
Perhaps he has missed the 32 year low in crime!
While new ideas are taking centre stage, Iain Gray is using the ‘old sock’ drawer for policies.
Can he think of any new?
Other than copying others and using retread policies that failed, what’s he got to offer?
Show me the money!
This seems to be the last gasp chance to prove to his London Masters that he is relevant before they take the ‘Scottish’ Labour Campaign off him.
Scotland already has a First Minister who is doing the business, meeting the challenges and getting things done.
We need a First Minister, not a ‘roll over’ Minister in Bute House.
It’s a sign that Labour Party Campaign has a weak structure when old failed policies are all that is in the Labour ‘war chest’.
As Master Po said in the TV series Kung Fu:
“Time for you to leave.”
And don’t let the door hit you on the way out!
