It is very popular to join a cause were there has been an injustice, Birmingham Six and Guildford Four spring immediately to mind.
Given the scandal of ex Labour Ministers for hire, I proposed there is a cause that would attract lots of support from the public.
Jail the Westminster Three!
Three former Labour Ministers are at the centre of a tacky Lobbygate scandal, Stephen Byers, Geoff Hoon and Patricia Hewitt; they have since been suspended from the Parliamentary Labour Party.
Their actions show that paid lobbying by serving MPs should be banned completely by Act of Parliament.
People expect their elected officials to take up causes for people and organisations because of the righteous of the cause involved, not how many thousands of pounds offered.
It is quite frankly disgusting that an MP can be bought in this way.
Labour MP Stephen Byers can be bought for up to £5,000 a day.
With the General Election so close Labour MPs have a real fear of losing their seats and the meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party is calling for blood.
Labour MP after MP stood up to condemn the former minister with some demanding the Labour whip withdrawn immediately.
The case doesn’t stop there as Lord Mandelson and Lord Adonis now appear in the famous Court of public opinion with accusations that Government policy was changed to the benefit of big business namely Tesco and National Express.
For the Tories this is an absolute gift, David Cameron argues claims by Byers that he had influenced official policy went to the heart of the integrity of the Government.
Cameron is calling for Labour’s stooge Sir Gus O’Donnell, head of the civil service to start an investigation that is highly unlikely.
As usual the 'psychologically flawed' Gordon Brown has retreated into his bunker mentality refusing to investigate properly.
A fundamental question has to be addressed in the House of Commons, why should MPs be permitted to do paid advocacy when they are already paid as an MP.
Labour MPs for hire highlights yet again what the major theme of this blog is, we are living in a corrupt country.
This should be stamped out hard and ruthlessly.
