Dear All
Yet again, the Scottish Government has put its money where its mouth is and delivered.
Yes, it is that time of the year to welcome a council tax freeze.
Delivered by the SNP!
29 Councils have so far signed up for the council tax freeze, Angus, Shetland and Western Isles will set their rates next week.
This means that the SNP recognise that the best place for your money is in your pocket.
SNP MSP Joe Fitzpatrick said;
“Hard-pressed households across Scotland will welcome the news that councils across the country are to freeze the council tax. The SNP knows that as Scotland works its way out of recession families will welcome the extra pounds in their pocket. That is why we committed to freeze the council tax and give people a helping hand after years of rising bills under Labour.”
This is the third successive year of council tax freezes by the Scottish Government.
Finance Secretary John Swinney has made funds of £70 million available to help the councils afford freezing the tax, the SNP policy is to replace this unfair tax with a Local Income Tax based on ability to pay.
At present the Scottish Government hasn’t put this idea into practice because it is a minority government, it doesn’t have the required numbers of votes to push it through.
The bottom line is; if you want a fairer system of tax, then the choice is obvious, vote SNP.
Yours sincerely

So the wealthy pay less tax than they can easily afford..........
ReplyDeleteAnd people lose jobs as councils cut their Budgets (as demanded by the snp)
and this is fair?????????
Dear Mxyzptlk
ReplyDeleteThe burden has always been on the poor.
LIT is based on ability to pay, it's fair.
There is no LIT at present and councils are cutting their budgets under the current system.
Not a great argument.
