Steven 'bin laden' Purcell empire of Aleos racks up nearly £5 million in losses, but Labour Party members still enjoy the cream and champagne

Dear All

Talent is thin on the ground at Labour controlled Glasgow City Council.

The Labour Council of shame is apt at filling their own pockets and that of their family, friends, associates and Labour donors but 180 when it comes to running a business.

The empire of council companies or Aleos created the Council ended last year nearly £5 million in the red.

What you expected a profit?

This is Glasgow.

Recent figures show the city’s 12 arm’s-length external organisations managed to drive themselves into the deck with combined losses of £4.9m for 2009-2010.

The story for the simple minded was that they were on target for surplus of almost £7m.

What is required at the Labour Council of shame is a wake up call that the Aleos have to be returned back to the Council.

Not that this will mean a turn around but blame will be easier to attach to the right people by the public.

Aleos were supposed to save the council money by providing services more cheaply but prices are rising and services are getting worse, like at Cordia where staff are overworked, underpaid and given time pressured jobs.

This bad for staff and bad for clients, no one is winning.

The great new era of capitalism at the Labour Council of shame never made it passed filling their own pockets to the tune of thousands of pounds.

Labour’s idea of realising or generating extra cash for the authority was also flawed.

The jewel in the Labour crown is City Building, a construction firm which has done much to make Labour Councillors rich and provide great little treats like pop concerts for staff.

Their recorded loss was £1.3m last year, Willie Docherty, Labour Party member in command; his wife is Sadie Docherty, Labour Councillor.

One of the things, you learn in Glasgow is it is not what you know but who you know.

The Steven ‘bin laden’ Purcell empire is built on sand, each day it crumbles further but people are so use to Glasgow being corrupt no one notices in the course of their every day life.

People of Glasgow expect nothing to be done for them and generally they aren’t disappointed.

Yours sincerely
