Dear All
It seems that the provincial Scottish
National Party is upset about being frozen out of flagship televised leaders’
debates for the Westminster 2015 elections.
The SNP have six MPs at Westminster, they
are a fringe party, you can add to that they don’t stand candidates in the rest
of the UK, are unlikely to form a UK government, or be a major partner in a
coalition.
You could also make the observation that the
‘feeble six’ SNP MPs led by Englishman Angus Robertson don’t play a full role
in the House of Commons either.
While it is true the SNP are currently a big fish in a small Scottish pond, in the eyes of the rest of the people of the UK, they are totally irrelevant.
While it is true the SNP are currently a big fish in a small Scottish pond, in the eyes of the rest of the people of the UK, they are totally irrelevant.
Ukip on the other hand have a better case
for inclusion, they will be standing 650 candidates, which will mean in every
seat in every corner of Britain, they will have a chance, and they are a
national party.
In the Euro Elections, Ukip also managed to
‘win’ the election by getting the most seats, the first party to do so in 100 years
which wasn’t the government or the main opposition. UKIP received the greatest
number of votes (27.49%) of any British party in the 2014 European Parliament election.
They gained 11 extra MEPs for a total of 24.
The party won seats in every region of Great
Britain, including its first in Scotland which was won by David Coburn who
knocked out Tasmina Ahmed Shiekh currently with the Scottish National Party.
Now, unpopular Nicola Sturgeon wants to try
and force her way into the leaders’ debates when she isn’t even a Westminster
MP. To add insult to injury, Ukip’s Nigel Farage will be included despite
having no MPs, no MSPs and one only MEP in Scotland.
But this isn’t a Scottish election, it is a
British election, different rules apply.
The SNP’s Westminster leader, Angus
Robertson MP, said:
“These proposals will be utterly
unacceptable to any democrat. What the London-based broadcasters are proposing
fails in their duty to their viewers in Scotland, and simply doesn’t reflect
the reality of politics across the UK today.”
I think he means fails SNP voters in
Scotland, the rest of us don’t give a shit, really we don’t give a shit, it
isn’t about democracy; it’s about all about grudge, grievance and malcontent
with the Nationalist clique.
Now, we might have the unwinnable prospect
of a legal challenge by the Nationalists and Greens amid warnings that joint
proposals from the BBC, ITV, Sky and Channel 4 fail to reflect the “truly
unique situation” of post-referendum Scotland.
In the UK debates, there would be a head-to-head
confrontation between Prime Minister David Cameron and Labour leader Ed
Miliband.
The next would have Liberal Democrat leader
Nick Clegg in the mix and the third would involve all three leaders, plus Nigel
Farage. Ukip is expected to do well in getting votes, whether that turns out to
be seats remains to be seen.
Unpopular Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland’s angry
wee Nat, the leader of the Sturgeon nasty vile clique will get the crumbs of separate
Scottish TV debates with only other Holyrood leaders.
In staking their claim the SNP have cited
that their membership is more than 70,000 since the independence, to which I
say…… protest voters who once they realise how the Nationalists treat working
class members will soon cancel their membership.
Englishman Angus Robertson said:
“The broadcasters have the cheek to say
that their proposed format factors in ‘changes in the political landscape’ to
justify including Ukip, entirely ignoring the fact that the SNP are now by far
the third largest political party in the UK.”
How’s the bid for Scottish independence
going Angus?
What a huge stigma to have on the political
CV, I guess you ain’t shit!
The Green Party down south is said to be considering
taking legal action if it is excluded from the debates.
Green Party leader Natalie Bennett said:
“We’re certainly already looking at the
option of legal action and I think there will be other parties who will be
looking at the same option.”
Scottish Greens leader Patrick Harvie said:
“These proposals are clearly inappropriate
for Scotland, and cannot stand. These debates fail to reflect the truly unique
situation Scotland now finds itself in.”
To refresh Patrick’s memory, the ‘truly
unique situation’ in Scotland is that Alex Salmond and unpopular Nicola
Sturgeon lost, you backed a loser, and didn’t believe it was going to be
successful either, due in part to the massive mistakes of the SNP leadership.
Asked about the prospect of a legal
challenge, a spokesman for the SNP said:
“We will consider our options a step at a
time. At this stage we want to discuss these unacceptable proposals with the
broadcasters.”
Will unpopular Nicola Sturgeon be demanding
a ‘formal invitation’ like her old boss?
I think the BBC will hold firm, Sturgeon
won’t be going to the ball; she will be shut out, there will be a lot of
shouting in the wind but in the end it won’t matter. And the Nationalists anti
BBC protests will not have helped their case.
Goodwill doesn’t exist.
Unpopular Nicola Sturgeon won’t be standing
on stage on a UK wide broadcast for Westminster via the BBC. The SNP should
accept that and at the end of the day, voters want to hear from people discussing
the serious topics such as foreign affairs and defence. Quite simply, the spectacle
of Nicola Sturgeon talking out her arse on these matters is beyond the pale, this
isn’t comedy.
When the test came on Isis, the
Nationalists showed how out of their depth they really are, they should have
backed military action against the extremists.
On the ‘big night’ were the leaders of the
UK fight for control of the United Kingdom, unpopular Nicola will have to
settle for watching on TV, a Borgen episode or checking her fake hair colour is
okay for the next day.
As the Proclaimers famously sang:
“Irvine No more”……. especially down the
BBC.

What part of the Snp debate would interest the rest of the UK? Even the majority of Scots wouldn't be interested.
ReplyDeleteThe SNP feel they must keep up their Westminster bashing to keep their new members. They've flogged many a dead horse in the past, this is just the latest.
So you're pro the undemocratic stiffing of the Greens too then?
ReplyDeleteDear Allan
ReplyDelete"So you're pro the undemocratic stiffing of the Greens too then?"
How far do you drop the bar?
Are the Greens going to form a government?
Could the SNP form a Westminster Government?
Would you allow the BNP leader to be on the panel?
What about every other party leader?
By your logic, everyone would have to be represented or as you say it would be pro undemocratic stifling.
Where do you set the bar?
Help us out here!
Yours sincerely

Ah, Doris. It was you who dropped the bar by bringing up (not literally I hope) Farage's one can wonders.
ReplyDeleteCrap at this forecasing mularkey, is there any beginning to your talents?
As Andrew Neil pointed out earlier this morning, the price of crude oil has dropped $30 in the last six months.
ReplyDeleteGood job that the sane silent majority voted NO, eh what!

There must have been one hell of a party at the SLP HQ last night after it was announced that the inspirational Nicola Sturgeon had accepted the poison chalice. If the SLP can't finish off the SNP now then something is deeply wrong.

Here's some advice for Nicola on Riding a Dead Horse:
The tribal wisdom of the Dakota Indians, passed on from generation to generation, says that when you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount.
In modern education and government, however, a whole range of far more advanced strategies are often employed, such as:
1. Buying a stronger whip.
2. Changing riders.
3. Threatening the horse with termination.
4. Appointing a committee to study the horse.
5. Visiting other sites to see how others ride dead horses.
6. Lowering the standards so that dead horses can be included.
7. Re-classifying the dead horse as “living, impaired”.
8. Hiring outside contractors to ride the dead horse.
9. Harnessing several dead horses together to increase the speed.
10. Attempting to mount multiple dead horses in hopes that one of them will spring to life.
11. Providing additional funding and/or training to increase the dead horse’s performance.
12. Doing a productivity study to see if lighter riders would improve the dead horse’s performance.
13. Declaring that as the dead horse does not have to be fed, it is less costly, carries lower overhead, and therefore contributes substantially more to the bottom line of the economy than do some other horses.
14. Re-writing the expected performance requirements for all horses.
15. Promoting the dead horse to a supervisory position.
