Scottish independence: Scotland’s ‘jolly fat man Alex Salmond warns: the 'George Tax' would cost English business hundreds of millions, and in local news Alex Salmond welcomes the one man backlash against the English over currency, is that the same as a one man Mexican wave?

Dear All

After having his bluff called on a currency union, Scotland’s ‘jolly fat man’ Alex Salmond is looking rather old, tired and pathetic now.

He is still going on about it, he knows it over, but like a fool he is trying to play fellows Scots by suggesting that the English can be talked round.

They won’t be, they made a united pact.

Now, we have entered a phase were Salmond is publicly crying, he says ruling out a currency union with an independent Scotland would cost businesses south of the border "many hundreds of millions".

The tears are flooding out now, poor Alex and poor unpopular Nicola Sturgeon, wanting to ‘help’ the English, Alex Knows best, Nicola knows best, but the truth is that instead of taking the medicine, all that is on offer is a shit sandwich, and they will each have to take a rather large bite each.

Salmond also decided to have a stab at George Osborne's "diktat" in rejecting a currency union.

He says that this will backfire on pro-Union campaigners.

No!

There is no backlash from Scots because Scots don’t back him or unpopular Nicola Sturgeon, that’s the reality of life.

If only there was some way to ‘buy the vote’.

Osborne declared last week:

"If Scotland walks away from the UK, it walks away from the UK pound."

Game over!

Salmond who was outfought, outclassed and outplayed then accused the Tory Chancellor of a "complete misrepresentation" of the situation.

What’s not to understand about the word No?

No means No!

As to the ‘backlash’ apparently someone who was a former election to Alistair Darling has joined the Yes Campaign.

One man backlashes are so vogue right now; don’t you know!

To add to the weight of No, a new poll has found rising opposition in England and Wales for allowing an independent Scotland to keep using the pound.

58% of people against usage of Sterling by Scots after a breakup of the United Kingdom!

To return to the backlash tripe for a moment, Salmond says that:

"Phone-ins, newspaper polls taken after the Chancellor's statement indicated his diktat had backfired badly."

One thing that certain people in the SNP are good at is organising vote rigging so I don’t take much stock from his rants anymore.

On the EU, the SNP debacle continues Jose Manuel Barroso, president of the EU's ruling body the European Commission, said Scottish membership would be "extremely difficult, if not impossible".

All members states get a vote on whether an independent Scotland would get entry, and that vote would have to take place before any talks could take place on conditions.

One State says no and there is no membership.

In a bizarre add-on to his rant, Salmond said:

"People do become sick and tired of the succession of day-tripping Conservative ministers flying up to Scotland to deliver lectures and then flying back to Westminster again."

Didn’t unpopular Nicola Sturgeon go on  ‘daytrip’ to London recently?

Didn’t he do a ‘daytrip’ to watch the Tennis at Wimbledon?

In mock outrage Salmond lashed out at Osborne and said:

"No one with a semblance of understanding of Scottish history and indeed the Scottish character would have made a speech such as the Chancellor delivered last week. To be told that we have no rights to assets jointly built up is as insulting as it is demeaning. To be told there are things we can't do will certainly elicit a Scottish response that is as resolute as it is uncomfortable to the No campaign - it is yes, we can. It is a sign of how out of touch and arrogant the Westminster establishment have become."

I think this northern provincial minded lower middle class grasper has talked enough.

In London at a regular media briefing in London, Prime Minister David Cameron's official spokesman was questioned over whether the remaining UK would back Scottish membership of the EU.

The reply wasn’t exactly what Nationalists had hoped for:

"We are not getting into pre-negotiation."

I would hazard a guess and say they would drop a word in Spain’s ear to front run a no to membership.

Commenting on European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso remarks that Scotland would find it "extremely difficult, if not impossible" to join the EU after a Yes vote.

The PM's spokesman said:

"The fact that, were there to be an independent Scotland, it would have to apply to join the EU in the usual way is entirely consistent with the advice contained in the relevant (UK Government) analysis."

Salmond recently sent a letter down regarding a nonsense analysis that UK ministers where trying to "bully" Scots into a No vote.

A stupid letter to send from a desperate isolated and utterly incompetent little man who is politically dying each day that this farce of a campaign continues!

The spokesman added the Westminster Government continues to respect the Edinburgh Agreement, which sets out the terms of the referendum campaign.

But only in public, Salmond and Sturgeon don’t deserve respect.

As part of his feeble efforts to try and gain some type of credibility, Salmond said:

"I am publishing today an estimate of the transaction costs he, the Chancellor, would potentially impose on businesses in the rest of the UK if he tried to force Scotland into a different currency. They run to many hundreds of millions of pounds. This charge - let's call it the George Tax - this would be impossible to sell to English business, to be charged by their own Chancellor for the privilege of exporting goods to Scotland."

Simple solution then is to vote No!

Problem solved case closed and onto the next problem.

Remarkably easy this politics game!

Speaking in Aberdeen, Salmond’s contrick was to add:

"In short, what was presented by Mr Osborne was not an economic assessment but a campaign tactic."

It is not a campaign tactic, all opposition parties have signed up to it, they are in a pact, and there is a Westminster election in 2015 so on one will break that agreement.

Salmond was ranting at an event organised by the pro-independence Business for Scotland organisation.

No one else will have him.

So, to recap, Salmond was standing whining in front of his supporters because the people of Scotland have turned their back on him.

He lost the argument on Scottish independence.

He lost the argument on currency.

He lost the argument on the EU.

Finally, trying to salvage something the leader of the Alex Salmond party within the SNP said:

"The sight of a Labour shadow chancellor reading from a script prepared by George Osborne was too much to bear for many Labour supporters in Scotland."

It was the "straw that broke the camel's back" for Labour MP Alistair Darling's former election agent Ian Newton, who he said had declared his support for a Yes vote.

This is so funny, a one man backlash, is that anything like a one man Mexican Wave?

Do the math; Salmond, you lost, pack up and go!

Yours sincerely

  1. The more I listen to all the different options on currency offered by the yes Scotland camp, the more I think they have lost their marbles.Somewhere they have lost touch with reality and wandered off into a fantasy land where you can can play around with the currency, default on debt and if they get independence tell a foreign country that it's tax payers have to back Scotland's financial system.I watch and listen as nationalists simply refuse to see anyone else's point of view as rational or based in fact.I believe that this will bring disaster to Scotlands economy.i think it is time for anyone with savings ,investments, etc to take them out of Scotland and get them somewhere safe.

  2. Yes Scotland, the bogus SNP front Organisation is now falling apart.
just like a hot sweating rapist the rhetoric is the same
A ken she said naw but she really meant aye.

    Naw means NAW!
Difficult to see any recovery here. pretty plain Spain will do the UK a favour, in return for the same regarding Catalonia.
Will Salmond steamroller Sillars, Canavan, Harvie, Fox and all the other hangerson?

  3. Spain will help by saying whatever Cameron wants but in reality, will do nothing. Europe is not about to say goodbye to a nation with over 20% of the EU's natural resources, making every European in Scotland an alien immigrant overnight with no rights. Spanish fishermen would also riot if their government colluded on any decisions that prevented them fishing in Scottish waters.

  5. Dear Anon

"He is quite bonkers, you know".

Salmond is just a lower middle class striver sucking up to the mega rich.

"How long before the SNP High Command retreat to the Bunker with a crate of Kool Aid, I wonder".

They are probably stocking up on supplies as you speak.

The Alex Salmond Party within the SNP have lost any chance of independence.

  9. Poorly written. poorly argued. You lost the argument the moment you come across as angry (hint. Name calling, the fallacy of ad hominem, falls into that category.)

I mean no offence, but your entire blog post reads like it was written by a 15 year old, not a student of an internationally respected university such as Glasgow. I have seen better writing from my secondary school students.

  10. Dear Anon

    “Poorly written. poorly argued”.

Really, and your opinion matters to me why?

“You lost the argument the moment you come across as angry (hint. Name calling, the fallacy of ad hominem, falls into that category.)”

    Really, you’re an expert?

“I mean no offence, but your entire blog post reads like it was written by a 15 year old, not a student of an internationally respected university such as Glasgow”.

Type in Andrew Bryne Glasgow University, maybe he is more your type of student.

“I have seen better writing from my secondary school students”.

    Well done them!
