Dear All
The SNP has cobbled together various
unhappy groups who don’t like the British Government or its policies.
One of these groups is CND, the Campaign
for Nuclear Disarmament.
The group was heavily supported by the
Russians to destablise the West during the Cold War.
Apparently our Russian cousins thought it was a good idea to try and get a nuclear free Britain.
Apparently our Russian cousins thought it was a good idea to try and get a nuclear free Britain.
Not a very good idea.
So, the SNP in need of ‘followers’ embraced
CND by being anti Nuclear weapons, but in the big wide world outside their
cliques, they could take the people of Scotland with them. Everyone is opposed
to nuclear war but you can’t un-invent these weapons.
They are here and they are here to stay.
The SNP or to be more precise Alex Salmond
did a U turn on NATO after the SNP opposing it for 30 years, 30 years of
getting it wrong, 30 years of being backward, NATO is the cornerstone of Western
defence.
So, the U turn came, but rather than doing
the right thing and supporting a pro Nuclear Faslane, Scotland’s ‘jolly fat man’
seriously bottled it, he dropped the ball, probably to keep the working class
mugs who do the campaigning in the party in place.
The SNP halfway house is untenable, their
defence plans are amateurish and they haven’t done any work preferring to ‘cut
and paste’ parts of the UK’s defence reviews. You may have noticed that the SNP
now campaign for one airbase, when previously they said they needed three, so
what changed?
If they were wrong before, it shows they are
incompetent and if they are “right” now it shows they are incompetent.
Eh?
Well, Scotland needs more than one airbase
just like it needs more than one naval station, but the SNP just latched onto
other’s work to fill a gap.
The gap in thinking was caused by not being
arsed at Westminister or arsed as a party, Englishman Angus Robertson is the
SNP defence spokesman, what a bang up job he didn’t do!
So, Trident needs to be replaced and the Coalition
Government have committed to spending £3 billion on it before any final
decision on a replacement for the ageing nuclear deterrent.
Will the new nuclear deterrent go ahead?
Yes, it will, there are many reasons but
the seat on the United Nations Security Council is a prime one, all Security
Council members are Nuclear.
£3 billion is a massive amount of money,
but the Conservatives will push ahead with their plans for a like-for-like system.
There will be new submarines commissioned
and they will be based in Scotland.
The SNP who are irrelevant in this debate
have condemned the proposals for what it said would be "immoral, outdated
and grotesquely expensive" weapons.
Grow up and act your age!
The Liberal Democrats who want to be all
fuzzy to their supporters having lost so many oppose a like-for-like
replacement.
With the Liberal Democrats trying to rebuild
after Clegg’s folly, the two parties have agreed a stalemate where no final
decision will be made until after the 2015 general election.
This isn’t about nuclear weapons; it’s
about Westminster politics and re-election.
Conservative Defence Secretary Philip
Hammond admitted that billions of pounds of spending will already have been
committed by that stage.
And with Scottish independence dead, the
SNP clueless on defence, the rest of the cash will go in at some future stage.
Hammond said:
"Some £3 billion has been earmarked
for spending before the next election."
He also announced £79 million of investment
in the next generation of submarines which will carry the nuclear deterrent.
Angus Robertson, SNP “leader” at
Westminster and the party's defence spokesperson, said:
"The determination to spend £100
billion on Trident nuclear weapons that are designed to flatten Russia is
perverse."
Is that right Angus?
Well, you just wear an extra woolly jumper
if it gets cold and leave the defence of the UK to others with vast experience.
Go do some shopping at Harrods and visit
the sights of London, you aren’t much use as a defence spokesman!
If the SNP had backed NATO and backed pro
nuclear Faslane as a base for the nuclear submarine fleet they would have been
seen as credible.
But Alex Salmond, unpopular Nicola Sturgeon
and Angus Robertson aren’t strategic thinkers.
Mind you, it is a bit late to convert to
nuclear since the SNP completely balls it up at this late stage, or is it?
Yours sincerely
