Awhile ago, I wrote about my appearance on
the BBC at the Big Debate.
At the time I attracted quite a lot of
abuse regarding my NATO and pro nuclear stance which I knew was extremely
important for independence.
Keeping Faslane as a nuclear base guarantees
sovereignty.

The Scottish National Party afterwards then
adopted NATO as their conference after the leadership backed it.
Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon failed to
grasp the nettle and didn’t back pro nuclear Faslane, this was a serious
tactically political mistake which in part was done to keep on side the
republican/CND element of malcontents.
Only now have the Scottish Government have
had "initial" talks with NATO, however, it is a complete waste of
time and government resources, Scottish independence has virtually no chance of
success.
None!
Having tried to get the EU to start
discussions and failed miserably, the SNP have trotted into NATO to see if they
can get discussions going.
The discussions with senior NATO officials took
place at NATO HQ in Brussels, Belgium, however as is the same old story, the
discussions went pear shaped, the Scottish delegation was reportedly told that
no new member would be allowed to join if it had unresolved military or
territorial disputes with other countries.
That is the issue of Faslane remaining as
Nuclear Submarine base.
George Laird right again, is this the story
of independence, George Laird gets it 100% right, ahead of the curve, ahead of Salmond
and Sturgeon as per usual.
Time for a quote by Alex Salmond:
“My problem is that I have too many
talented people and not enough Cabinet positions”.
No NATO membership is even being considered
unless Faslane is the home of the nuclear submarine fleet.
The rebuff is said to be a coded warning
that the SNP’s threat to remove Trident could be an obstacle to Scotland
gaining membership.
Trying to spin the failure as a success, a Scottish
Government spokeswoman said the talks had been "useful" but that it
would "not be appropriate to comment further" on details of the
discussions at this time.
In others words, having failed to adopt
George Laird radical thinking, Alex Salmond and the SNP were effectively told
politely to go away, NATO doesn’t need small minded petty provincial thinking.
Scottish Conservative Tory leader Ruth
Davidson said:
"It is no surprise officials were told
that shutting down the submarine base at Faslane was incompatible with entry
into the alliance. Nato's position is clear - new member states must support a
nuclear first-strike policy and will not be admitted until all military
disputes with other member countries are resolved. That includes basing
disputes for nuclear submarines."
Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie
Rennie stated:
"It is little surprise that NATO
officials are concerned that an important part of its defence utility could be
unilaterally undermined by one of its new members. But this revelation
undermines the SNPs case for strong defences for an independent Scotland. To be
a normal member of an alliance you should expect to comply with its rules,
ethos and purpose. If the SNP want to ditch Trident they'd need to ditch NATO
too. Leaving NATO would leave Scotland without the cornerstone of defence in
Europe, potentially exposing us to considerable threats. The SNP seemed content
to keep voters in the dark on these critical remarks from NATO officials. So
much for an open and honest debate about Scotland's future."
So, more failure and more embarrassment for
Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon, they entered a halfway with adoption of NATO
but keep the malcontents on board with Trident removal so that the indy mugs
would continue doing the activism work such as delivering leaflets and manning
street stalls.
A spokesman for Scotland’s unpopular Deputy
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon insisted:
"An independent Scotland's continued
membership of NATO will be in the strategic interests of our neighbours and
partners, including the rest of the UK. We have made clear that that continued
membership is contingent on the removal of nuclear weapons from Scotland, and
if the people of Scotland vote Yes they will have voted to support a
proposition that calls for the removal of Trident at the earliest safe
opportunity. The UK Government is committed to working constructively with us
to make that happen, as they have pledged to respect the result of the
referendum and to work constructively, in the interests of the people of
Scotland and the rest of the UK, whatever the result."
Clown!
Big vision is required to win independence,
so far the SNP have run a disastrous campaign worthy of an ineffective
community council with the clique burying their faces into the indy trough as
they soak up the pay and goodies.
Pathetic little people unworthy of
independence, and certainly incapable of delivering said independence!
This is just another sign of how incompetent
the Scottish National Party is, the revelation will come as no surprise to the
many people within the Nationalist movement, Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon cannot
deliver independence, they have done no work, they have no plan, they have no
vision.
Alex Salmond is an utter buffoon, and buffoons don't get to join the NATO club!
