Scottish independence: Alastair Darling subject to attack for launching new campaign group, Forces Together at Conservative Party Conference, SNP respond by ‘screaming like a bitch’, free speech is still legal in Scotland, ill judged stunt backfires

Dear All

Have you read the latest from the SNP?

I would characterise it as ‘screaming like a bitch’.

The Scottish National Party has said repeatedly that it is running a positive campaign, it isn’t; it is grudge, grievance and malcontent.

Where is the positive?

Recently the SNP has accused Alistair Darling of "getting his instructions" from the Tories after it emerged the former Labour Chancellor and head of the pro-UK Better Together campaign is to appear at the Scottish Conservative conference this week.

Isn’t Alastair Darling entitled to meet people in a democracy?

Isn’t Alastair Darling entitled to speak where and whatever he decides?

Mr Darling will attend the Conservative gathering in Stirling to launch a new Better Together group, called Forces Together.

This new group is to rally support from those who have served in the military.

In an unofficial poll a while ago, the vast majority of Scots said they didn’t want to serve in a military controlled by an independent Scotland.

And who could blame them, less opportunities and prospects for working class Scots.

However Darling’s presence is unprecedented, he is believed to be the first Labour MP to attend a Scots Tory conference.

Nationalist MSP Annabelle Ewing said:

"This is bad news for the No campaign. Many Labour voters will be appalled at the prospect of Alistair Darling going to the Tory conference to get his instructions. The reality is the No campaign is led by the Tory Government at Westminster, which the people of Scotland didn't vote for, and is inflicting cruel cuts on working families and vulnerable people. In attending the Tory conference, Mr Darling is proving the No campaign prefers bad Government from Westminster to good government with independence."

Isn’t there good government with devolution?

That depends if you think Nicola Sturgeon leaving cancer sufferers to die because the SNP didn’t fix health is a good idea.

Ewing is part of the Ewing dynasty, and in the SNP there are many other little dynasties which show in my opinion that the SNP is nothing more than a clique.

The Tory conference will be like any other political conference; maybe it might make the television on BBC2 in Scotland with a highlights reel.

As you would expect keynote speeches from Prime Minister David Cameron as well as Scots leader Ruth Davidson will form the basis of the Conference, what they plan to do to re-build their party north of the border is the hot topic.

20 years in the political wilderness is a long time and unless they change, it will be 20 years more in the wilderness.

Has Ruth Davidson done well?

Depends where you set the criteria!

You can tell how ‘precious’ the Scottish National Party has become, after all, independence support has totally collapsed under Nicola Sturgeon, she was pushed forward as the ‘face of independence’, and the SNP are finding out she doesn’t sell well on the doorstep.

I have to laugh; the SNP masterminds are so far out of their depth, that they are now just a source of ridicule; they are becoming never minds!

When I was younger I used to teach young adults and kids, and I can’t remember a time when I saw such an ill judged display of ‘screaming like a bitch’ over nothing, it is just not right.

Not right at all.

Yours sincerely

  1. SNP have always been seen as anti British Army, don't see a Scot wanting to join Salmond's army.

    Or Navy

    Or Airforce

The SNP are crap at protecting the lives of Scots, vote Labour.

  2. Alistair Darling is making a huge mistake in trying to rally the troops into the no camp, that's not democracy, they should be left to make up their minds. To have this bully tell me that 'we' are better together is turning me off, i have to say, he is a liability to the cause.

  3. Dear Fiona

    Huge mistake?

The majority of the forces who are Scottish already have said no in a poll to Salmond.

And are you aware that the SNP have set up a little group under banner Veterans for independence, here is a link.
