Scottish independence: Major blow for SNP as Scotland’s unpopular Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon utterly fails to garner support for independence, indy campaign in meltdown, George Laird right again!

If you need more confirmation of how bad the independence Campaign is being badly run, support for independence has completely stalled.

When Alex Salmond appointed Scotland’s unpopular Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, the thinking possibly was that Ms. Sturgeon would be able turn round the total collapse of support.

Some people wrote that Ms. Sturgeon appointment would attract the ‘women’s vote’, now it seems that she can’t attract any vote. 

Alex Salmond turns off a lot of voters and with the First Minister being branded a ‘liar’; it has stuck in the imagination of the public.

Trust is an issue for Mr. Salmond.

And I don’t think it helped his case by appointing his own judge and jury to clear him as many commented.

This year is seen as a critical year for Salmond and Sturgeon’s independence future, Yes Scotland seen as an SNP front is part of the problem.

Who can take these people seriously?  

A new poll puts public backing for independence firmly stuck at 28%, Ms. Sturgeon as the ‘independence chief’ has been a spectacular flop not just in the campaign but her own personal credibility.

‘Nicola will turn it round’ was probably the cry at the SNP!

I think not.

We are seeing how the lack of proper preparation and vision has led many to believe that the issue goes well beyond trust, there is a question of competence emerging.

The news however is good; good if you are in the pro-UK campaign, they have opened up a massive 20-point lead!

This lead is more than double the nine-point advantage it enjoyed this time last year. Salmond and Sturgeon are turning people off independence.

The reason why?

This isn’t a people’s campaign, right from the start; it was all about rich people as the SNP so ably demonstrated at the disastrous ‘Declaration of Cineworld’ event where Salmond held court.

The only crumb of comfort for Salmond is the recent fall in opposition to independence, from 53% to 48%, however, it is just that a crumb. Although a single poll is interesting, this poll reflects the trend of more or less every other poll.

This poll does for the first time get the views of 16 and 17-year-olds, but the bad news for the Yes Scfotland Camp is that they alter nothing.

Scottish Labour's constitution spokeswoman Patricia Ferguson said:

"It is an astonishing admission of failure from Alex Salmond that after 80 years of the SNP, the best part of 20 years as leader and more than five years as First Minister, he is only now getting round to explaining why Scotland should be independent."

As I have previously wrote and blogged on, there is a genuine lack of talent in the SNP!

And another problem on the horizon for Alex Salmond, is that although there is a Better together campaign, the Scottish Labour Party have started the Westminster campaign early, because they understand what certain people in the SNP don’t, the battle ground is Westminster issues.

Did George Laird write that the unionists would push right through to the Westminster campaign previously?

This campaign is the slowest political death in history, for Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon, they are now sitting stewing in their own juice.

On Wednesday, Scotland’s unpopular Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon will launch the ‘Yes Glasgow’ campaign at the Radisson Hotel in Glasgow, Yes Glasgow is actually the SNP wearing their Yes Scotland hat with a few others, one wonders whose morale needs boosted more, theirs or hers!
