Smear campaign links Better Together to far right parties such as BNP, Scottish National Party whose members have known history of smearing clear themselves without proper investigation

There are ‘knowns’ and ‘unknowns’ in politics, one of the knowns is that there is some incredibly thick dumb bastards who call themselves nationalists.

How thick?

The expression ‘thick as f*ck’ springs to mind readily, kinda rolls of the tongue.

Latest piece of stupidity has seen the Police being asked to investigate a smear campaign linking the pro-Union Better Together to far-right parties.

In the Scottish National Party, there is a known history of smearing others, Gail Lythgoe, the wife of Muslim MSP Humza Yousaf was caught smearing the Labour MP Ian Davidson.

It was a rather nasty vile campaign to totally destroy his life and reputation. 

And there are others equally nasty and poisonous in the nationalist community which the SNP leadership of Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon know about and have done nothing about either.

Unless it gets forced into the public domain, then and only then do Salmond and Sturgeon act, prior to that getting them to shift is pretty much impossible, especially if you are poor and disadvantaged.

A four-page letter purporting to come from Better Together sent out to politicians and known supporters of the Union has put the logos of the National Front and British National Party on the letterhead linking them alongside the mainstream parties running Better together.

The mainstream parties being Labour, the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives, as well as them, UKIP and the Scottish Unionist Party logos were also used on the letter.

Now the stupid stunt has backfired with possible Police involvement as one recipient said he found it offensive and threatening. 

Remember when I said there are some thick dumb bastards involved in ‘fighting’ the nationalist cause, well the  envelope in this case was posted through a specific pre-paid business account of a major UK firm.

Oh dear, well it could be that a bit of cross referencing with the employment files and various databases could reveal who sent it.

The letter mixes known facts, smears and what is said to be obviously humorous material, I wonder if they will be laughing when the Police come calling? 

A reply address given is the United and Cecil Club in Sussex, a genuine Tory fund-raising operation down south.

The letter opens:

"Dear fellow Unionist, Your name has been forwarded to us as a true British patriot" and speaks of the coming "Battle for Britain".

There was an attack on Alistair Darling over his Westminster expenses and political record, smears former Lib Dem leader Charles Kennedy and criticises Ruth Davidson for her private life and support for same-sex marriage.

Well, it seems that the Police could have a field day, especially with comments against Ms. Davidson who is a member of the LGBT community.

The letter is signed Better Together (The Unionist Campaign).

Sadly, we are dealing with someone who is incredibly dense, Better Together (The Unionist Campaign)?

Doug Maughan, a critic of independence, said:

"I assume I received this because I've had letters published in The Herald, arguing that Scotland's future is best served by remaining as part of the UK. Someone's obviously put a significant amount of time and effort into producing the letter, and I wonder what else they might be capable of. I'm sufficiently alarmed that I've discussed it with the police and will be making a formal complaint with them."

Better Together said:

"This ridiculous fake letter, coupled with a co-ordinated effort by an extreme SNP group to disrupt public events is an affront to democracy."

It seems that an SNP MSP has rather put his foot in it on Twitter by encouraging nationalist supporters to attend unionists events.

The SNP said:

"This is to be deplored, and it's obviously got nothing to do with the No or the Yes campaign."

Could the SNP supply evidence of their investigation that established that no one in the SNP is behind this?

Sadly no, there was no investigation and until this matter is fully investigated and the person or persons responsibly found, their assumption is meaningless tat.

Yes Scotland responded:

"We have no knowledge of this. Yes Scotland will always run a clean and honest campaign."

Presumably that is why they employed SNP member Gail Lythgoe who smeared Labour MP Ian Davidson as an executive assistant. She would be able to spot an ‘unclean’ campaign given her history of smearing.
