Scottish independence: Scotland’s unpopular Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon seeks urgent talks over EU membership, indy campaign imploding each day due to stupidity, when are they going to listen?

Dear All

It seems that Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP have decided to ditch the nonsense they have been spouting that Scotland would automatically continue with its EU membership.

Has someone in the SNP actually decided to go with the George Laird view and deal in facts?

Stupidity and assumption has led Alex Salmond and the SNP Government to look like a bunch of incompetents on this issue.

So, Nicola Sturgeon is announcing she is to seek ‘urgent talks’ with Euro chiefs after a fresh warning that Scotland would have to reapply to join the EU after independence.

What does this mean?

It means, she is trying to do a damage limitation exercise to no avail, there is no contract and therefore there is no EU membership.

Scotland if independent starts as a new state.

Given what has transpired, Ms. Sturgeon should have taken up my part time hobby at Glasgow University reading law books.

The SNP claims of Scotland remaining a part of the EU are now seen as bogus crap, eminent personages who back this crap are not so eminent now.

George Laird was right again!

There is no renegotiate of terms of membership from inside.

This leaves open various scenarios which should have been planned for by weren’t. I guess the Alex Salmond line of ‘too many talent people’ in his government doesn’t stack up.

An independent Scotland could be forced to adopt euro currency and open borders agreement, adopting the Euro isn’t an option, the currency would wreck the Scottish economy for generations, we would end up like Greece and Spain.

Did George Laird say Plan McB for a Scottish Pound?

The rest of the UK would “in principle” not have to renegotiate, that is because they already hold a contract.

EC President Jose Manuel Barroso told the BBC it was “obvious” that an independent state would have to apply for membership, according to the existing rules.

An increasingly defensive, needy and desperate Ms. Sturgeon said:

“We do not agree that an independent Scotland will be in the position of having to reapply for European Union membership, because there is no provision for removing EU treaties from any part of EU territory, or for removing European citizenship from the people of a country which has been in the EU for 40 years”.

Ms. Sturgeon worked at Drumchapel Law Centre which she patently didn’t get the chance to practice international law enough.

And she should have realised that having an ‘argument’ doesn’t mean she actually has a case…… commonly known as a leg to stand on.

Another bizarre statement by her:

“We are now seeking early talks with the European Commission to discuss the specific process of Scotland becoming independent.”

That has nothing to do with them; that is an internal UK Government matter, not within their remit because until Scotland is independent, they cannot interfere with sovereignty issues of an EU member state.

The best Ms. Sturgeon can get is being directed to the rules; no opinions are going to be coming forward.

If Scotland is forced to renegotiate membership it could be forced to adopt the troubled euro currency and the Schengen agreement on open borders which the UK is currently exempt from.

Given the jobless situation, Ms. Sturgeon isn’t going to persuade people that having open borders when so many Scots are unemployed.

Ms Sturgeon added:

“We have always said that the specific terms of Scotland’s continued EU membership as an independent nation will be negotiated but the crucial point is that these negotiations will take place from within the EU, because in the period immediately following a Yes vote in the referendum Scotland will still be part of the UK and the EU.”

Dream on, that won’t fly, until Scotland is deemed independent from the UK, no negotiations can take place until all matters are resolved with Westminster.

So, her position is complete nonsense, sadly it appears the only ‘case’ that Ms. Sturgeon is going to take with her if she goes to Europe is a ‘suitcase’.

Tory leader Ruth Davidson said:

“This is a definitive intervention from the President of the European Commission, which Alex Salmond simply cannot ignore, now we have it straight from the horse’s mouth, the First Minister has to explain why he has been so blasĂ© about such an important matter affecting the future of our country.”

Maybe Ms. Sturgeon should go back to the Glasgow University library and crack open a book on contract law, a bit of understanding of law would certainly help matters of what you are and aren’t entitled to. The Library staff is very helpful from my experience and will answer any questions she might have on the issues.

And a bit of reading on Lord Denning, former Master of the Rolls wouldn’t go a miss either, to get a favour of what a contract is.

As to urgent talks, save the airfares, they have already told you the position and enough public money has already been wasted by this SNP Government on jollies!

Yours sincerely
