Lord Advocate Frank Mulholland stands ‘ready to prosecute’ Colonel Gaddafi over Lockerbie, have a pie Frank and sit down, you’re an embarrassment!

Dear All

Just in the door and making an arse of himself, when Elish Angiolini departed the premises, Frank Mulholland got her job as Lord Advocate.

Team Angiolini became Team Mulholland.

So, he gets in and in a really short time, Mulholland says, that Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi could face trial over the Lockerbie bombing.

Libya is in turmoil with people abandoning their posts such as the former Libyan justice minister Mustafa Abdel-Jalil, he has claimed Gaddafi ordered the attack on Pan Am flight 103.

How much weight can be put on his evidence is open to debate given the political situation.

Only Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi was ever convicted of Lockerbie.

However, Scotland’s new Lord Advocate, Frank Mulholland, has said if the Crown Office obtains “sufficient, credible and reliable evidence of other people’s involvement in the atrocity, we will seek to prosecute them” and that he would lobby for any trial to take place in Scotland.

No shit Sherlock and any trials that don’t involve a bullet through the back of the head will take place in The Hague.

If Mulholland thinks that Gaddafi is getting turned over to him and his crew, then he is sadly mistaken.

As to Mustafa Abdel-Jalil confession that Megrahi had threatened to expose him unless his release from jail in Scotland was secured.

Megrahi spent nearly a decade in prison so that ‘threat’ or evidence is open to question.

Mulholland said:

“There are opportunities arising from events in Libya and the Crown stands ready. We monitor closely events in Libya to see if anyone with information about the Lockerbie atrocity comes forth and we will act on that.”

Aye aye aye, very good son!

Mulholland also said he had not discussed any possible trial location with American officials and his view that it should take place in Scotland puts him at odds with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who wants Gaddafi to appear before the International Criminal Court at The Hague.

It seems that me and Hillary Clinton thinks along the same lines on this matter, we can’t have very fat fool with a Scottish law degree waddling in making ridiculous demands which haven’t a hope in hell of being granted.

A Labour Party spokesman said:

“A realistic case should be built before any grandstanding from the Lord Advocate.”

And to that add completed negotiations.

Another person who likes me who thinks that Mulholland is talking out his arse is Dr Jim Swire; he has cast doubt on the value of a trial held under Scots Law.

He said after the mishandling of evidence involving one of the key witnesses in the case, Maltese shopkeeper Tony Gauci, he did not think “Scottish justice should claim that it is valid to be used for a trial of anybody in this case”.

A Crown Office spokeswoman said:

“Given the current events in Libya the Crown stands ready to investigate any new leads.”

A Conservative Party spokesman said:

“Megrahi was convicted with others for the Lockerbie bombing and whoever those others are, they should not escape justice.”

One thing is certain is that Mulholland will never get Gaddafi in a Scottish court of law and he should remain quiet instead of making stupid announcements which no one on the international stage will take any notice of.

And he will be lucky, very lucky to get in at any trial at The Hague but maybe he could get a really big ladder and look through a window.

Yours sincerely

  1. This is a five star clown. So he'll be arresting CIA agents? I wouldn't have thought so. No change in the Judiciary. Business as usual.

Meanwhile why doesn't he get started on the Hollie Greig case and releasing the fit-ups languishing in Scottish jails?
