Scottish-Islamic Foundation fails to file accounts on time again, no failure too big, and no failure too small; £400k wasted, not one penny more!

Dear All

For some time I have been watching the Scottish-Islamic Foundation as they stumble about trying to be relevant.

My last post highlighted problems.

Problems that seem to be continuing!

On the 21st March 2010, I wrote in another post:

“The smart thing is for this organisation to cease to exist, if you are not going to run it properly don’t run it all”.

Now, 2011; we hear that SIF has again broken company law by failing to file its accounts on time.

We have seen big mistakes and we have seen small mistakes which all add up to a total mistake.

The Scottish Islamic Foundation (SIF) now faces a fine after failing to lodge its 2010 accounts with Companies House by the end of February.

And last year, they also failed to meet the deadline.

There are 365 days in a year so it isn’t like they didn’t get enough warning.

They have now racked up two automatic £150 fines.

Last year, the accounts showed it ended 2009 almost £5000 in the red.

And the Auditors weren’t paid so they walked.

Then there were the festivals and expos that never happened.

Allegations of cronyism!

Founded in 2008, in such a short time, it achieved wide spread publicity for being driven into the deck so quickly.

Come May 2011, the Scottish Government of whatever shape should take the opportunity to completely withdraw from publicly funding this organisation.

SIF director Dr Nazim Ghouri has blamed an administrative problem for the late accounts, but said they would be filed shortly and that SIF intended to continue its work.

What a great pity for the people of Scotland.

Yours sincerely
