Unsurprisingly the Scottish Parliament's presiding officer has dismissed a complaint from two academics who said they were badly treated by MSPs.
The two ‘villains’ of the piece are disgraced Labour MSP Wendy Alexander, and disgraced Tory MSP David McLetchie.
Holyrood presiding officer Alex Fergusson said in a letter:
“I should begin by clarifying that the conduct of committee meetings is the responsibility of conveners alone, I have therefore forwarded your letter to the convener of the Scotland Bill Committee so that your specific concerns can be considered in the appropriate forum”.
What does this mean?
In essence if the convener of a Holyrood Committee decides to abuse you then Parliament makes them, the judge and jury of their own conduct and trial.
Wendy Alexander will decide if she and Tory MSP David McLetchie have a case to answer.
Farce!
When Prof Drew Scott, of Edinburgh University and Prof Andrew Hughes Hallet, of St Andrews University took the time to appear before the Scotland Bill Committee to answer and give evidence on that bill, they were bushwhacked.
Instead of answering questions on the bill, they were being interrogated on their work of full fiscal autonomy.
And given no warning in advance!
They thought they were talking on one subject and instead found themselves having to defend their academic reputations.
Last night on Newsnight Scotland, Hugh Henry defended the right to ‘interrogate’!
The meaning of Interrogation in Wiki is:
“Interrogation or questioning is interviewing as commonly employed by officers of the police, military, and Intelligence agencies with the goal of extracting a confession or obtaining information. Subjects of interrogation are often the suspects, victims, or witnesses of a crime. Interrogation may involve a diverse array of techniques, ranging from developing a rapport with the subject to outright torture.
So, what were Scott and Hallet were subjected to?
Abuse of power!
In the past MSM reporters have played down the behaviour of Wendy Alexander as ‘Wendy is getting the job done.’
But the fact is Wendy Alexander is no leader of men, she is what she has always been a small person.
In the past she has been reported to senior civil servants for allegedly "bullying" her officials while a minister.
I could sum her up in this fashion:
‘You can take an arsehole out of Glasgow University, but not Glasgow University out of the arsehole’.
Scott and Hallet learned a lesson; unfortunately for them the lesson was public.
All Tory Presiding Officer Alex Fergusson did was to remind them that they aren’t part of the Holyrood club.

Note although he refers them back to Alexander, he doesn’t mention anything about taking their complaint to the Standards Commissioner for redress.
Mind you what did they expect appearing before a rigged Committee with so much vested self interest?
