Dear All
Remember this song:
‘He is mental, he is crazy, he’s aff his f**king heid’.
Whoever wrote that tune must have envisaged someone along the lines of ‘East Coast Weasel’ Labour MSP Iain Gray.
It maybe a new year but trouble crossed over into 2011.
Labour’s Holyrood leader Iain Gray has become embroiled in an embarrassing diplomatic row after linking Montenegro to ethnic cleansing.
As a former teacher you think that Gray would value history and getting his facts correct before sounding off.
But no!
Gray has said that Montenegro was involved in ethnic cleansing; trouble is the Gray version of history doesn’t match the official version.
As used by the rest of the world.
Gray is supposed to be fighting for control of Holyrood this year but has opened up a ‘second front’ in the Balkans were no seats are being contested.
After running his mouth off, Montenegro’s top UK diplomat has hit back by expressing “deep regret” over Gray’s “incorrect” comments.
Marijana Zivkovic, the charge d’affaires at the Montenegro Embassy in London is deeply angry by this turn of events.
Montenegro achieved and secured its own independence in a bloodless manner, severing its union with Serbia after a successful referendum in 2006.
A result recognised by its larger neighbour.
All nice, all peaceful but they didn’t reckon the ‘East Coast Weasel’ staggering about like a bull in a china shop cause mayhem.
The country is also a candidate to become a member of the European Union and that issue wouldn't be on the table if issues such as ethnic cleansing were outstanding.
In a letter to Gray last week, which was copied to UK Labour leader Ed Miliband, the diplomat stated:
“I cannot help but feel deep regret about the way you chose to depict [us] in your public statement.
“Your statement that Montenegro was involved in ‘ethnic cleansing’, including your references to a ‘war crimes tribunal’ and a ‘peacekeeping mission’, is simply incorrect.”
Bad news for Iain Gray, Red Ed Milibland will be furious and it will reinforce why Gray has to be kept on a short leash by his London Masters.
To add to the charge sheet Ms. Zivkovic said that Montenegro was the only former Yugoslav republic where “neither war nor devastations took place in the last decade of the 20th century”.
Zivkovic concluded:
“I remain open for any further explanations or communications to this regard.”
I have an explanation which could satisfy Ms. Zivkovic.
Iain Gray is a complete tube!
He is the kind of guy you hide in a basket in the cupboard, lacking in talent, personality of a plank of wood and couldn’t lead anyone anywhere for whatever reason.
Gray says he is 'ready to serve', I asked for a smoked sausage supper, two pickles, a can of irn bru a while ago and I am still waiting.
Service is slow, a bit like his mental processes.
A Labour spokesman said:
“Iain Gray will of course reply to the Montenegrin embassy and inform them in full of his comments and the context he made them in. They should not be construed as a criticism of Montenegro”.
If you say a country was involved in ethnic cleansing, is that not criticism?
Car crash politics followed by car crash spin done as damage limitation, the people of Scotland will be telling Iain Gray to ‘get on his bike’ at the Holyrood election because despite have an abundant supply of ‘tubes’ in the Labour Party, the people prefer politicians who have a track record of delivery, excellence and are socially and educationally aware.

ReplyDeleteLord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life
