US War Criminal Karl Rove is 'proud' of the American record on torture of detainees, he thinks history will look kindly on George Bush, simply deluded

Dear All

During the phoney ‘War on Terror’, one of the most disgusting things to emerge was the use of torture on people held in US custody.

The US and the rest of the civilised world have signed up to the Geneva Convention which prohibits torture of people held in custody both civilian and military.

George W Bush's former top adviser was Karl Rove who has publicly said he is "proud" of the use of harsh interrogation techniques - including waterboarding - during the War on Terror.

Karl Rove’s justification is that waterboarding, or simulated drowning, doesn’t amount to torture.

He said;

"People need to read the memos that outline what was permissible and not permissible before they make a judgement about these things. Every one of the people who were waterboarded had a doctor who had to ascertain that there had been no long-lasting physical or mental damage to the individual."

A bit late after the event!

The US has with the Barack Obama regime abandoned waterboarding officially but the legacy and damage of the use of torture will cause lasting problems for future American administrations.

These people who authorised this are war criminals and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Khalid Shiekh Mohammed was one person who was waterboarded 160 times while in US custody.

The Americans were keen not to let their allies know what they were up to according to Eliza Manningham-Buller, head of MI5.

It rather makes Rove’s statement pretty farcical as the Americans hide it and ran their torture centres outside their legal jurisdiction.

They knew very well what they were doing was illegal.

Rove is currently promoting his book, Courage and Consequence which he believes and argues that history will look favourably on Mr Bush’s two-term presidency, particularly his decision to invade Iraq.

The fact is George W Bush’s presidency will be remembered for making the world a less safe place and as the catalyst for the Iranians accelerating the development of their own nuclear bomb.

On top of that by lowering the standards of justice, Bush and Co removed the barriers of decency and stripped the West of its moral authority.

The world is a less place because of the economic wars started by America in the Middle East dressed up as liberation.

Karl Rove is a man who put people’s lives in danger, just another war criminal who escaped prosecution.

The damage he done will echo through-out time for many decades in the forefront of people's minds.

Yours sincerely
