It is out all over the newspapers, Steven ‘bin laden’ Purcell’s has allegedly confessed to taking cocaine.
It said that that Purcell admitted taking cocaine to four colleagues 10 months before his fall from grace.
Cocaine is a Class A drug.
On top of his tale of woe is the visit in the City Chambers by Two officers from the Serious Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency (SCDEA) about him being seen in the company of known Glasgow gangsters!
The revelations end the PR manipulated pretence that Purcell resigned solely because of work-related “stress and exhaustion”.
His political roof caved in completely.
After the Police visit, Purcell moved out of his flat in Yoker, where many of his childhood friends had become involved in drugs, because the Police warned him that he was open to blackmail.
His name came up in an investigation into a major drug dealer.
So, as I said in a previous post, questions come to mind;
Where did he allegedly get the drugs from?What is the name of his alleged suppliers?How often did he meet?How much did he spend?Who gave him the name of the supplier in the first place?
At present Purcell has fled the city and gone into hiding with some saying he will be gone for possibly a year.
It seems that Purcell is also out in the political wilderness as a Labour MP said;
“There’s less sympathy for him now than there was when this all broke. People don’t know what’s going to come out next. They won’t stick their neck out and offer support for someone who might not deserve it.”
There is also the question of who are his four colleagues who kept quiet about his drug use.
They certainly have questions to answer about how they covered this scandal.
And of course there are the Labour Party bosses who knew as far back as July 2008 something was going wrong in Glasgow.
Finally, it is funny that the Labour Party after their false show of ‘unity’ has turned their backs on him so quickly.
It seems for the foreseeable future that Steven ‘bin laden’ Purcell is out of politics and out in the cold.
