Bill McLaren, the voice of rigby has died at 86, sad day for his family, friends, fans and sport in general

Dear All

Bill McLaren has died at the age of 86, he became best known and popular as the "voice of rugby".

A keen sportman, he even had a rugby trial for Scotland in 1947 but after contracting tuberculosis which nearly killed him, he found fame in other ways.

Although not a rugby fan myself, I recognised his voice many was what rugby was all about enthusiastic and knowledgeable.

His BBC debut was in 1953 and the rest they say is history.

As a mark of how respected he was, he was inducted to the International Rugby Hall of Fame.

Throughout his life, he helped train others, coaching several players who went on to play for Scotland.

At terrible day for his family, friends and the many people who enjoyed his broadcasts.

People should take this time to reflect on the amount of good work and people he helped, that contributed to a better society.

Yours Sincerely
