Frankie Boyle’s disgusting vile joke about Katie Price’s disabled son Harvey raises the issue of taste, is cash more precious than good manners?

Dear All

I am not a Katie Price fan.

However Katie Price has a point when she condemns a sick "vile" joke about her disabled son made by Scottish comedian Frankie Boyle.

This reminds me of that tosser Russell Brand who harassed Andrews Sachs because he and Jonathan Ross thought it would be funny.

It wasn’t and promoted a storm of complaints, Andrew Sachs is German and Jewish and a much loved person in Britain. He reminds us of a time when comedy was more fun than harsh.

Price’s son Harvey suffers from septo-optic dysplasia and autism.

In a statement on her website, she said:

"Harvey Price is a little miracle. Every day he overcomes so many difficulties with the help of family and medical experts and has so many tiny battles to win due to his medical problems.

"If Mr Boyle had a 10th of his courage and decency he would know that to suggest, let alone think funny, that Harvey may sexually attack me is vile and deeply unfair”.

"To bully this unbelievably brave child is despicable to broadcast it on television is to show a complete and utter lack of judgment."

The ‘defence’ by a Channel 4spokeswoman was simply pitiful.

She said:

"Frankie Boyle is one of the highest profile comedians in the UK, he's well known for his controversial humour and the programme carried appropriate warnings as to the nature of the material. The joke aired in the context of a late-night comedy show. The joke itself has been performed by Frankie as part of his stage show and, as with much of his material, is an absurdist and satirical comment on high-profile individuals whose lives have been played out in the media."

Does this excuse what was done?

What would Boyle think if his son and daughter were publicly targeted for the same kind of treatment?

Would he support that as funny?

There is something quite distasteful about people who make fun of disabled children

Boyle has form for abusing disabled children via ‘jokes’ last April he had an on-stage argument with the mother of a Down's syndrome child after making fun of the condition.

When Boyle heard of the comments made by the woman Sharon Smith he said:

"This is my last tour. I don't give a fuck what people think”.

Frankie Boyle has a book out called, ‘My shit life so far’.

Maybe if he wasn’t a wee shit life in part would be better, the guy's an out and out prick.

  1. I totally agree with you. Don't forget the remark Boyle made about The Queen on "Mock the Week", in which he remarked on a certain private part being "haunted".
The man has no tact, swears frequently as if to shock and has the manners of a rat.

  2. Dear Rab

    "Who cares!"

I hope everyone, there are things which are so unacceptable that people have to speak out.

Like you do on your blog.

Sometimes you have to fight for people who can't fight back, it is what makes society better for all.

  3. Frankie Boyle is an 'insider' ... licence to do what he wants... SEE: Glasgow Sheriff Court.

    Tavistock revisited.

    Anyone else gets arrested.

  4. George. I'd have more sympathy if she didn't use her disabled child to make money on reality tv shows or wasn't so foul mouthed on her reality tv show where she would regularly abuse 'Andre' with her potty mouth and bizarre mood swings.

  5. I recently watched the Frankie Boyle DVD and, to be honest, came away only feeling guilty that I had experienced it.

However, I don't think we can differentiate between his take on paedophilia, rape, incest, recently dead/murdered/kidnapped people and Katie Price's son. It's not as if the Harvey joke tips it over the edge, the whole show is horrifically insulting for all minorities.

I also don't think this is a cash issue. Frankie has openly claimed this will be his last tour, his last TV show. He's not cashing in with these jokes, he's getting his most deeply offensive jokes out there before the end of his career, not because he wants to make money but because he loves to make these kinds of jokes. He actively enjoys being controversial and making people laugh.

I used to find him funny in his less offensive days, but I now feel he's a bad ambassador for Scotland. However, you can't pick out one joke out of the collection to hold against him, you have to take the whole lot.

  6. Dear eckie

I agree with everything you say.

I saw the Katie Price and Peter Andre show being a fan of neither but as I watched it, I found myself genuinely liking Peter Andre.

The shit that guy put up with was massive and in the end I thought how lucky Price was to have him.

Unsurprising when he left, Price’s management company went with him, left her after 5 years.

Price doesn’t generate sympathy because she has used her disabled child to make money on reality tv shows.

But in this case, she does have a point against Frankie Boyle and he should have exercised self control.

I take the view the kid has done nothing wrong and as such doesn’t deserve this kind of treatment despite how horrible his mother comes across.

    Yours sincerely
