Mumbo Jumbo, leading expert Professor John Curtice says “independent Scotland” could remain in EU after Brexit, will unpopular Nicola Sturgeon jump and resign as First Minster in 2018 only to lose the battle of ‘Section 30’ at Westminster, the trajectory of Sturgeon and the SNP is starting to roll back and implode

Dear All

In theory the old saying is that ‘anything is possible’, in practice, in the real world it isn’t and never has been.

Professor John Curtice, of Strathclyde University says an independent Scotland could remain in EU after Brexit, the idea apparently is that Scotland could swap places with Britain in the EU.

There would have to be a second referendum and the Scottish National Party would have to win it.

Now, the reality, there isn’t going to be a second referendum, the United Kingdom is going to ‘Brexit’ the EU and there is no possible chance of Westminster agreeing to another Section 30 order to let the SNP hold a referendum.

As to the idea of a ‘swop’, this in my opinion is highly dubious; the United Kingdom membership is specific to the UK as an entity. I doubt that there is anything in the EU articles which say that membership can be swopped and it would also fly in the face of article 49, and the existing EU Members right of veto.

The right of veto cannot be sidestepped by a backdoor deal.

After making the announcement former Labour First Minister Henry McLeish immediately climbed onboard and said the idea of Scotland taking on the UK’s terms of EU membership was a “positive” suggestion.

Henry McLeish hawks around the place giving interviews about indy and rather looks these days like a cheerleader for the SNP. He has even gone so far as to say the idea by the Professor should form part of Sturgeon’s strategy for protecting Scotland’s place in the EU.

The boat has sailed on Scottish independence and the Westminster Government will not grant a Section 30 order nor will they agree to have two fights on the go at the same time, the Brexit and Scottish independence fights require a considerable amount of time, money and resources.

Curtice bases his claim on the UK’s Foreign Office paper ahead of the 2014 referendum that stated an independent Scotland would not inherit EU membership because the UK was the recognised member state.

He said:

“Clearly it would depend how the EU decided to interpret that. There would be a choice facing the EU. It could decide to treat Scotland, which is already part of the EU, as the successor state. The point the Foreign Office paper argued was that an independent Scotland would not inherit EU membership as that membership was the UK’s. But if the rest of the UK wants to get out of the EU, a decision could be made in regard to Scotland being the continuing state.”

No matter how much the SNP would like to jumble the meaning, the road blocks for refusal already exist and cannot as I said be bypassed by some people wanting to be cute. And then there is the entry criteria, Scotland cannot meet the required standards of gaining entry.

The Scottish deficit is three times above the EU limit, so there is no chance, and you can certainly see EU members objecting to Scotland because of their internal domestic separatist movements saying no all the way up to the very top of the EU and possibly into the European Court.

Yes, this one would get legal in an awful hurry.

Curtice, also said if one part of the UK, in this case Scotland, wanted to remain in the EU but the rest of the UK wanted to leave it would give officials in Brussels a choice. No, I would say it isn’t as simple as that not by a long chalk; the EU rules of membership aren’t designed to allow officials in Brussels a ‘choice’, far from it.

The EU is forbidden from getting involved with domestic politics of a member state, as such, they cannot entertain Scotland until negations are completed in the event of the SNP winning an indyref.

And that is further away post September 2014 than it has ever been; you see the SNP were outed as liars who deliberately attempted to cheat the people of Scotland out of their country.

As well all know how that turned out; it would have the same result in any future referendum.

Legal expert, Tobias Lock, a lecturer in EU Law at Edinburgh Law School, said Scotland could only take over the UK’s EU membership if a vote for independence took place before Brexit was complete.

I doubt that assessment entirely.

Also Lock is co-director of the Edinburgh Europa Institute, a research centre on European integration.

He said:

“If Scotland became independent before the UK leaves the EU [the prospect of Scotland being allowed to stay in the EU as a successor nation] would be open for discussion, either in terms of replacing the word UK with Scotland or accommodating Scotland as a member. But if it was after Brexit I don’t see a basis for it. Much would depend on how the Brexit negotiations go, but it looks like it would be quite an elegant solution.”

This part of Lock’s assessment I do agree with when he says that post Brexit there definitely is no chance.

So, now if we had this scenario unfolding you would see a situation where all the pro UK parties in Scotland who expressed a desire to stay in the EU having to decide whether they would back independence.

In this scenario you can’t ride two horses, you can’t back the UK and back the EU anymore, you have to pick and that choice will be final. In the plus side for the UK is the fact that Europe is the most dangerous place politically and physically since the end of the Second World War.

People are angry, people are mobilising, and the political class are in more danger than they have ever been in, hence the EU wants its own army not to fight abroad but as internal ‘peacekeepers’ to crush dissent.

In the end, the opinion of Professor John Curtice is academic, there isn’t going to be a second independence referendum before Brexit, the Tories will not allow it, so no official campaign means legal binding result and as a by-product all sorts of legal trouble coming down the track.

Will Nicola Sturgeon go ahead with her threat to resign as First Minister in 2018?

Who cares, it is doubtful she will get a majority as the SNP “appeal” is slipping; incompetence has a habit of eroding popularity.

The rules of the EU cannot be by-passed by officials, Article 49, the right of EU members of veto cannot be ignored, and on that basis, I would say that any mumbo jumbo talk of people having a ‘choice’ is an illusion, a mirage, it doesn’t exist.

Nationalist Anger Explodes: Nicola Sturgeon’s Brexit Minister Mike Russell is forced to wait 36 hours to take an agreed call on Westminster Brexit ‘hotline’, in local news a constituent of Nicola Sturgeon had to wait circa 4 months for her ‘help’, in the end he fixed it himself, Nicola Sturgeon is a Nationalist clown

Dear All

Scotland’s ‘jolly fat man’ while First Minister of Scotland once said in relation with contact with the Prime Minster:

“He never calls, he never phones”!

People chuckled but the reality of the joke is that Westminster and the SNP don’t gel, a mutual contempt and degree of loathing is self evident.

And with loathing comes being ignored, I have said it once and I will say it again Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP are irrelevant, at some point when the spin and bluster runs out, people will see in the cold light of day that Nationalism in Scotland is in dire need of a new party.

Nicola Sturgeon along with Alex Salmond sold out the independence movement, independence was never their goal; they want to be ruled by the European Union with them as de facto ‘General Managers’ of Scotland.

In the Brexit talks, the big decisions, the real power lie with Westminster and this means that the United Kingdom is leaving the EU. Whether that is hard Brexit or soft Brexit is irrelevant, if Brussels wants access to the UK market, they will have to drop their ridiculous request that the UK signs up to the single market.

In the talks between Westminster and the Scottish Government, not much is talking place, the SNP in the shape of Nicola Sturgeon wanted and demanded action as if her requests have any meaning.

They don’t, the real talks on Brexit will start next year, and out of those talks with the EU will come a deal or no deal. As part of the information process, the Scottish Government has a phone number to call for information; some people dubbed it a ‘hotline’. It isn’t a hotline in the sense of the calls to the Bat Cave, it is just a number to call which someone when the phone rings picks up when not doing other duties.

The joke of this story about hotlines is that SNP Brexit minister Mike Russell called the new telephone line on Tuesday morning but did not get a response from the Conservative politician until Wednesday evening.

Ah poor Mike, there he was thinking he was “special”, now he finds out he sin’t “special” and by default neither is Nicola Sturgeon.

In SNP grievance monkey mode, Nicola Sturgeon said to Holyrood:

"I can share with chamber today that Michael Russell's office called that hotline, called it just before midday on Tuesday. It took until after 6pm yesterday to actually get David Davis on the hotline, that's 36 hours. So, yes, there is now a telephone line we can call, it's just currently not very hot."
Sometime ago, I was told by someone who sought help from Sturgeon about a DWP problem that they had to wait 4 months for her office to help and in the end, he got it sorted himself.

So, if you add up the hours give or take depending on how many days are in a month; that is circa 168 x 4 = 672 hours.

Nicola Sturgeon took circa 672 hours or 4 months to ‘help’ someone, does that sound like Sturgeon and her staff members are red hot on action?

You see for the most part, the public get treated to the self created PR image of Nicola Sturgeon as some kind of superwoman, someone who has all the answers, but other members of the public get to see the real Nicola.

The arsehole!

The phoney fake inept shallow hollow woman who doesn’t give a toss about you or your family or fixing your problems especially if you are white working class! The media have bought into the PR spin giving Sturgeon kudos as if she is something special; there is nothing special about Nicola Sturgeon.

Her political record in office more than demonstrates that she is incompetent, and here she is whining like a little girl because her failed education minister was left hanging for a day and a half.

A Number 10 spokesman rejected Sturgeon's account of the call as being "not an accurate version of events".

One wonders if that means he is calling her a ‘liar’, many people do in public among other things.

Anyway he said:

"A call was booked in with David Davis and that call took place at the time it was booked in for."

Presumably the call was booked because people have to collate information when it is requested or does Nicola Sturgeon think people keep everything in their heads regarding Brexit talks!

In further SNP grievance monkey mode, Sturgeon attacking the Scottish Tories said:

"If that's not possible we will put forward proposals to avoid a hard Brexit for Scotland to keep us in the single market even if the rest of the UK chooses to leave. When we put forward these proposals it will be interesting to see what the response of the Conservatives will be. Because, of course, in the referendum campaign Ruth Davidson was very clear, and she has been clear in the days after the referendum that she thought Scotland should stay within the single market; that the UK should stay within the single market. The proof of the pudding around this will be to see whether the Scottish Conservatives are prepared to back proposals that are in Scottish interests, or if they are going to continue to capitulate to their bosses at Westminster."

So much rubbish in this mad rant but let’s have a go at breaking it down or at least try.

“We will put forward proposals to avoid a hard Brexit for Scotland to keep us in the single market even if the rest of the UK chooses to leave”.

No separate deal with Scotland and the EU, we are either all in or all out, so Sturgeon will not as stated be getting a special deal because it is unworkable. The single market argument also falls because of the issue of immigration; the UK Government will not allow Scotland to be a highway for migrants passing through Scotland to sidestep the UK Border Control Agency. There would have to be a hard border between Scotland and England which will not be tolerated by the people but would be necessary if Sturgeon had her way.

Nicola Sturgeon’s stupidity has consequences, all her crap is about division, nothing more and it is becoming tiresome, she will along with the SNP have to go, a small start to this is the forthcoming loss of seats at Westminster due to the boundary changes.

Every journey starts with a first step!

Sturgeon’s parting shot about the Scottish Conservatives preparing to back proposals that are in Scottish interests, or capitulating to their bosses at Westminster is just pathetic.

Politics in Scotland is generally regarded as the poor relation to Westminster, here is the classic example, whining about a 36 hours window wait to take an agreed call and this passes as effective government!

‘Inform Scotland’ launch Anti-BBC billboard campaign across Scotland, for an organisation which fights anti-bias, why is their website 100% bias in selecting only pro indy authors to comment, these people obviously missed the irony, they can’t even match the professional standards of the BBC who they complain about!

Dear All

Did you by any chance watch the new Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie?

Jesse Eisenberg says a memorable quote:

‘The Red Capes are coming, the Red Capes are coming’.

In Scotland, we don’t have the Red Capes, but we do have the Scottish equivalents, the ‘Yes Loonies’.

So, what is a Yes Loonie?

A Yes Loonie is the equivalent of a brainwashed moron, blinded by the hatred fostered and developed by the SNP leadership.

The Yes Loonie thinks that Nicola Sturgeon is going to deliver them Freedom aka independence, but she isn’t, it’s all what is called ‘the big lie’.

No freedom, no independence, no nirvana and no milk and honey. If Sturgeon gets her way, Bonnie Scotland wouldn't be a dynamic exciting country; it will look like an upgraded Calais Jungle, a larger version of Govanhill.

A place were a proud Scot will have little to be proud of, probably he or she wouldn’t have job, won’t be socially mobile, will live in hellhole conditions and have no future not for them or their kids.

The Yes Loonies have decided to launch an Anti-BBC billboard campaign, during the Scottish Independence campaign, the Yes Loonies staked out the BBC, as if it was the propaganda wing of the Westminster Government.

The idea was simple; they wanted the BBC to stop asking the hard questions about the flawed plans of the SNP for independence, questions relating to will be able to pay for our services such as the NHS?

Questions on currency, questions on a central bank, questions questions, questions, which the SNP had no answers to beyond soundbites!

The Yes Loonie doesn’t question, the Yes Loonie doesn’t use logic; the Yes Loonie is as I mentioned a brainwashed moron. Like a kid in a sand box who discovers for the first time the wonder of making a sand castle and thinks they are building their own little universe.

Yes Loonies raised £8,000, what did they achieve?

Well, the £8,000 got them some free PR in the press, but the PR isn’t good press, just another reminder how intolerant the SNP have made Scotland, a country split and a country divided.

The genie is out of the bottle, and it’s full of hate.

Here is a classic example of a brain washed moron:

“The vote was won through lies threats and intimidation, spread by Project fear, and of course the British Brain washing Corp”.

A reply to this Hamish guy said:

“Hamish. The vote was lost because it was an ill-conceived, poorly prepared and amateurishly presented pile of crap that no one, apart from nationailst nut jobs, could even think as being remotely viable was being offered”.

Was it ill-conceived?

Was it poorly prepared?

Was it amateurishly presented?

Was it a pile of crap?

The answer to question 1 is yes, the vision was ill-conceived because Alex Salmond thought a few balloons and a ‘jolly fat man’ act would win over Scots.

The answer to question 2, poor prepared, yes, again, the idea of a 650 white paper full of bland statements with no detail shows how much the SNP leadership are out of their depth.

The answer to question 3, yes, for the third time, Nicola Sturgeon wearing her daft penguin coat and looking like a reject out of a Batman movie was a pathetic joke as she bumbled along trying to be the caring face of independence and failed.

The answer to question 4, yes, the entire thing was strung together and was a pile of crap, the only thing which worked was the Yessers had a better ground operation, it was better than Better Together who loaded up their organisation with Labour people who weren’t up to the task. The Labour Campaign at the time which more or less centred on running around on a bus and Jim Murphy standing on irn bru crates was probably in their eyes, the highlights of their campaign.

Anti-BBC billboard campaign will not sway public opinion, it just reinforces the concept in people’s minds that the SNP and their ‘allies’ want to shut down the press in Scotland. And we all remember what happened to the political editor on STV.

If it happens once you can just write it off, but how many times now have the Nationalist camp tried to gag the press now?

Professor John Robertson, who recently retired as a professor of media politics is acting apparently as a spokesman for ‘Inform Scotland’.

So, who are ‘Inform Scotland’ since they are putting up much of the cash for the billboards?

Well, after doing a google search, I have yet to find anything about them significant; they don’t seem to have much of a history on the web apart from:

I am putting their link in this post in the interests of fairness, and I urge you to pop in and sniff about their Website.

One of the people listed as authors is Rev. Stuart Campbell who runs the discredited Wings Over Scotland site, he is an out and out tool!

Unlike the BBC who allow people to come on and dissent, the inform Scotland appears not to have anyone listed as an author to put a counter view!

100% bias!

The Inform Scotland group accuses the BBC of distorting the news agenda and aims to draw public's attention to "the ways in which they are being lied to."

This is a serious charge to make, should the BBC have not asked the difficult questions, should the BBC not have challenged the lies of the Yes Camp?

Apparently the Yes Loonies in Scotland think that they have a God given right to access state media, change the news agenda and deceive the public because it is entirely ‘justified’ because they want Scottish Independence.

I remember Professor John Robertson when his previously published research flagged up claims of bias by the BBC, he is fronting the ‘Inform Scotland’ Group; maybe the dear old Prof should turn a critical eye over his own lot?

Maybe before getting on a high horse, he should help the SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon get her shit in order first before shouting the odds about anyone else.

Recently at the SNP Conference, the delegates and others were treated to a billboard campaign by Scotland in Union as they attended their Conference, now we have ‘catch up’ by Inform Scotland, copy cats, where’s their big ideas?

Apparently according to the publishers they intend to stick up much more material in the coming weeks and months.

The SNP distanced itself from the poster campaign, saying it had nothing to do with it and did not support it.

That is what the SNP are saying in public but as we all know and I am sure Professor John Robertson can research, the SNP leadership and allies have already been outed as liars, so why should we believe a word they say since they are already tainted.

The SNP and their allies lied, lied and lied again all the way to the vote on 18th September 2014, that part of history can never be re-written or flowered up as a ‘good news’ item by Inform Scotland or anyone else.

Yours sincerely

Angry Wee Nat routine: SNP Leader Nicola Sturgeon finds out she is totally irrelevant in Brexit talks and does a predictable fake outrage performance in front of the press, she says, “I won't allow Scotland to be driven over a hard Brexit cliff edge”, she doesn’t speak for Scotland and never did!

Dear All

Did you all get a really good laugh at Nicola Sturgeon, if you missed it, don’t worry, she has decided to add to her humiliation by saying following it up by saying that:

“I won't allow Scotland to be driven over a hard Brexit cliff edge”.

Nicola Sturgeon has no say in what happens in the Brexit talks, the final decision rests with Westminster and only with Westminster.

Yesterday, Sturgeon found out that she is irrelevant and the proof of the pudding was in the look on her and Mike Russell’s faces as they left Number 10 to speak to the press.

All Brexit is to the Scottish National Party is a grievance vehicle to do three things:

1/ Push for independence

2/ Distract people from the SNP record in government

3/ To rally the troops using the narrative ‘English bad’ to get free labour for the 2017 council elections.

When Nicola Sturgeon talks about the UK Government not to “slam the door” in Scotland’s face, she is talking about the Scottish National Party.

I suppose the endgame is a series of concessions, the prize one being control over immigration which will not happen.

The meeting between Westminster and the devolved Government described by Sturgeon as “feisty” was just her acting like an arse again.

Sturgeon told the press afterwards:

“We had a very frank exchange of views. There was frustration. I don’t know any more now about the UK Government’s approach to EU negotiations than I did before I went in.”

Given that the Brexit negotiations haven’t started and will not officially till 2017, why should she expect an instant plan?

After all she has had several years to clean up and act on the Govanhill ghetto in her own backyard and only recently has she been shamed into doing something.

And that something isn’t much!

Sturgeon insisted she is approaching the intergovernmental talks in good faith; her first act was bad mouth the UK Government within a few minutes of leaving the meeting at Number 10.
Does that sound like she is approaching the intergovernmental talks in good faith?

I don’t think so, and anyone who knows the SNP record or the SNP at Westminster you know that these people don’t know what good faith is, these are the type of people who shit where they eat.

In the House of Commons, ‘Fake Scot’ Angus Robertson, the English MP who represents Moray in Scotland said:

“The Prime Minister cannot pretend to take the interests and concerns of Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and for that matter Gibraltar seriously. Either she will or she won’t and, if she won’t, Scotland is absolutely right to hold an independence referendum and we will protect our place in Europe.

Everything about the SNP is about independence, they are a pathetic joke, at present Scottish Politics could be described as a wasteland devoid of choice for the electorate to vote for.

Theresa May says she was taking the views of Scotland and the other devolved governments seriously.

Her mistake is recognise that Scotland is the SNP, it isn’t and while she plays the SNP game, it will down the line blow up in her party’s face north of the border.

What goes up must come down.

Anyway the Prime Minister said:

“What I want is for us, in determining the UK’s position - because it will be the UK that will be negotiating with the EU our future relationship - to take into full account and understand properly the impacts and the particular issues that are of concern to the devolved administrations.”

This means in actuality that she wants data when she is making her final decisions on how the Brexit deal will unfold as the United Kingdom goes forward with the EU.

As to talk of flexibility by David Mundell, this nonsense, flexibility is abit like a divorce where you give the other side something you don’t want and expect to be praise for being generous.

So, what are the SNP demanding?

The idea of Scotland remaining in the single market while the rest of the UK leaves!

This is a complete non-starter and unworkable, single market means freedom of movement, and that isn’t going to happen.

2/ a Holyrood vote on the UK’s negotiating strategy

Totally unworkable, again a non-starter as the tail doesn’t wag the dog!

3/ More powers over immigration and trade being devolved to the Scottish Parliament

Control of immigration will never happen, Westminster will not allow Scotland to be a highway to bypass UK Immigration controls and as to trade, maybe this is the area where something might be done, however that doesn’t mean Scotland having separate trade deals with others.

Nicola Sturgeon is a fool, and the fact that she can’t work as a team player shows her lack of class and statesmanship in the wider arena.

Recently it was said that a deal for a £840,000 house for Nicola Sturgeon fell through, it seems that perhaps that Nicola Sturgeon is already planning her exit from Glasgow and a possible move to a new seat outside the city.

Back in 2013 at the Govan by-election, people, particularly women where very quick to brand Nicola Sturgeon an arsehole, we are seeing the anger in Govanhill building up as the residents demand that Nicola Sturgeon do her job.

The SNP leadership have a tendency to shit where they eat, it is in their nature; eventually the stink gets so strong that they move on.

I wonder if the SNP get control of Glasgow City Council in 2017, and Sturgeon on the move for a new home outside the city whether the City of Glasgow is in line for a massive funding cut.

Maybe you should start wondering as well!

Yours sincerely

The phoney full blown constitutional crisis, Theresa May warned by independent think tank that imposing Brexit settlement on Scotland could break up Britain, the Conservatives need to stop listening to outlandish nonsense, there is no constitutional crisis, Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP are irrelevant and have gone as far as they are going to go, for them it’s the end of the road!

Dear All

Do you know what an independent think tank is?

It is a group of people with an opinion; you and your mates down the pub could set up an independent think tank.

Independent think tanks have no power, they use their networking connections to be relevant to people in politics by interaction and publishing papers.

Neither of its activities may alter the course of a Government.

Theresa May has been told that imposing Brexit settlement on Scotland could break up Britain.

This sounds bad, but the reality isn’t, the devolved parts of the United Kingdom are completely safe as part of the United Kingdom.

If we assume that Theresa May and the Conservative Party aren’t stupid, they will realise that engaging with Nicola Sturgeon is a waste of time, and also this risks the gains made by Scottish Conservatives in Scotland.

What goes up for the Scottish Conservatives can also come crashing down!

The Scottish Conservatives benefited from votes by former Labour voters who loaned the Conservatives their votes as Scottish Labour presented itself as weak on the Union. The statement by Pauline MacNeill MSP at the weekend of Scotland getting control of immigration just reinforced that concept. If Labour list MSP Pauline MacNeill thought she was reaching out to former Scottish Labour voters who voted yes, she made a huge dreadful error of judgment.

What did she do?

Labour list MSP Pauline MacNeill effectively justified why it is okay for Labour voters to back the SNP by signing up to the SNP grievance max agenda.

Duh!

Anyway the independent think tank uses highly excited language like a ”full blown constitutional crisis” and a “reckless” strategy of trying to impose a Brexit settlement on Scotland.

There is no constitutional crisis full blown or otherwise, and as Brexit is a reserved issue, any outcome can hardly be deemed reckless as the wishes of Nicola Sturgeon and her feral mob are irrelevant.

Utter irrelevant!
Nicola Sturgeon travelling to Downing Street today for a meeting with Theresa May about Britain’s withdrawal plans from Europe isn’t crucial but if it is part of a series of events like this where she plays the SNP’s game, the Scottish Conservatives will slip back.

The Institute for Government says imposing a Brexit deal on the devolved nations of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland without their consent would risk breaking up Britain. This is nonsense, why is it nonsense, because the power to hold referendums rests with Westminster, and only with Westminster.

Wales and Northern Ireland wouldn’t leave the United Kingdom.

If Sturgeon goes through with her threat, resigns as First Minster and there is a Scottish election so be it, who cares, she will win it, the Labour Party is in no fit state to win the Scottish Parliament not even as part of a coalition, the Scottish Conservatives benefited by Labour’s mistakes, this isn’t progressive for them, it is being a vessel of discontent.

As I said at the time of the Holyrood election, the Scottish Conservatives played a blinder, they nipped it said they were the party of the Union and scooped up Labour’s Unionist votes.

That is why there are two Glasgow list MSPs.

If you think back to my appearance on the Gordon Brewer Radio Show, The Big Debate of 10 June 2016, you might have heard me say that the devolved parliament should be included in the Brexit talks, to which Gordon Brewer said that my idea was ‘very noble’.

Now, we have the creation of a “new official forum,” a sub-committee of the JMC to be chaired by David Davis, the Brexit Secretary, with attendees nominated by the devolved governments.

George Laird right again and ahead of the curve, politics isn’t that hard which is why I say that ordinary people should go stand for public office.

So, let’s cut through the crap and get to the meat of the issue, can unpopular Nicola Sturgeon win a second independence referendum where a ‘jolly fat man’ Alex Salmond could not?

No!

You see it doesn’t matter how the SNP try to present Nicola Sturgeon who is an entirely vacuous, inept, shallow, hollow, fake, insincere and untrustworthy individual, the majority of Scots aren’t buying what she is selling.

Sturgeon like her policies stink to high heaven, at least with Salmond, he could do the ‘jolly fat man’ routine, Sturgeon can’t even master that, no matter how many selfies she does, and have you noticed that she back hugging the weans again!

When in a crisis erupts like the ghetto at Govanhill, she is back out there hugging little children, it is so pathetic.

Former chancellor Lord Darling hits the nail on the head when he says that did not believe Ms Sturgeon would hold another poll “any time soon”.

One thing is clear, the people of Scotland require new political parties to emerge, they need someone or party to vote for who isn’t a vessel for a protest vote, and the clock is ticking.

As to the Institute for Government report on the possibility of a ”full blown constitutional crisis” caused by Nicola Sturgeon and her feral mob, it is chip paper wrapper,  Theresa May needs to start ignoring and not commenting on this nonsense.

Nicola Sturgeon like dust will soon blow away when she doesn’t get the attention and kudos.

Yours sincerely

The Year of Living Dangerously: Kezia Dugdale's Labour Party facing council polls meltdown as Professor John Curtice predicts a massive wipe out of Labour Councillors as SNP set to seize control of councils, Labour heartland of Glasgow could fall to the SNP

Dear All

“Low morale goes hand in hand with defeat after defeat followed by impending defeat”.

Do you recognise this movie quote?

It is the quote used by James Mason in the 1975 movie Cross of Iron, which also starred James Coburn.

Kezia Dugdale's Labour facing council polls meltdown according to Professor John Curtice, I met Professor Curtice ‘officially’ on white paper day at a BBC broadcast for Radio 5 Live. The Professor is really sharp and has a wealth of knowledge on polling, when he says something it is worth paying attention too.

It has to be said that Scottish Labour has gone through a difficult time over the last several years, recently I was ask by someone to give my thoughts on Scottish politics and the rise of the SNP. I said to look at the SNP; you had to look at them in 4 phases, 1934 to 1974, 1974 to 2007, 2007 to 2014 and 2014 till present. We chatted about also there had been a decline in the Labour Party in Scotland.

As people well know, the tipping point of discontent with Labour was the Scottish Independence Referendum, but the tsunami had built up over decades. When the leadership don’t listen to the people, when elected representatives don’t fix people’s complaints the public have a tendency to reject them.

The Labour Party in Scotland has for far too long traded on the legacy of party’s great statesmen like Nye Bevan.

Now that ‘credit’ has been used up!

Those in charge are now held up and examined on their record, and as we see by the Westminster 2015 and Holyrood 2016 results, the rejection of Labour in Scotland has been a universal thing.

Of course, it didn’t have to be that way, but the actions of the few in charge who failed to show leadership, listen to voters who demanded change went unheeded. The people turned to the SNP not because the SNP were seen as competent but because they were seen as a protest vehicle that everyone could vote for to cull Labour.

I wrote about how Labour needed a cull prior to the council elections of 2012, got that right, I said the cull should be extended to the MPs, they got wiped out, got that right as well. Holyrood 2016 was a disaster for the Labour Party under Kezia Dugdale.

Her approach to the campaign was wrong, and the proof is of course in the result, no one can say the Labour Campaign of 2016 went well.

The voters have deserted the party, the activist base has collapsed, Labour has forgotten how to campaign properly right up and down the party; the big donors like Willie Haughey aren’t funding the party.

The Labour Party came third in the Holyrood election; it came third behind the Tories, the Tories, cast into the political wilderness since the days of Thatcher, allowed back because the Labour Party has lost its way. It lost people who voted for independence and it lost Unionist people when Kezia Dudgdale said she could vote for independence.

And Ruth Davidson seeing an opening nipped in and exploited it; Labour dropped the ball and paid the price.

Now in 2017, the Scottish Labour Party according to Professor Curtice is set to come third behind the Tories again in next year’s council elections. If they do that, the calls for Kezia Dugdale to resign will grow; she has been part of the team which already has lost Labour Party two major elections and the EU Referendum.

In coming to his conclusion, the Professor John Curtice said recent council by-election results had been “uniformly appalling”.

In Glasgow, the Labour Party has lost 5 by-elections on the trot to the SNP. I could have done the Garscadden by-election for the Labour Party, but I chose not to, I was asked by someone called Lorna Finlayson who is Head of Campaigns and Organisation to take part. She contacted me and implied that a position in campaign organisation was available to me if I wanted it.

So, I wrote back and asked what position was being offered, to my surprise she didn’t answer the question, but cc the campaign organiser in the email and he asked for a contact number.

Guess what?

He never contacted me, probably because there was no position in campaign organisation being offered, they wanted me to deliver leaflets. At the time I was pretty unhappy that I was being contacted and the person doing so wasn’t able to give me a straight answer to a simple question.

I felt that they had tried to use me.

So, I stood back, and we all know the result of the Garscadden by-election, the second safest Labour seat in the City of Glasgow was lost by 100 votes.

If I had of gone done the by-election, as an experienced campaigner, I think that Labour would have won, if they had, my contribution beside the usual worthless ‘thanks’ wouldn’t have been recognised at all in the party.

Those leading the Scottish Labour Party might wish to adopt a policy of answering simple questions when a member asks them directly.

Anyway, back to the Professor, his review of current events and data makes interesting reading, the SNP could win outright majorities in around a dozen of Scotland’s 32 councils and emerge as the largest party in almost a dozen more.

That is bad news for Kezia Dugdale, and it gets worse, all but one of Scotland’s cities is predicted to be SNP-run after next May.

And even more bad news could be added to this, as you know, in Scotland, the Scottish Labour Party leader Kezia Dugdale didn’t back Jeremy Corbyn, I said this was a mistake and still do, the momentum crowd want her gone as leader.

So, how do you solve a problem like kezia?

Well, I would suspect they will stand back and not do activism unless the candidates are pro Corbyn or momentum candidates, if that happens and the election is a disaster, then they can go to plan B, calling for her resignation, and her position would be untenable. Scottish Labour would be effectively just a paper operation till 2020 and when the bad result of that election comes rolling in, the pressure to go will come from inside Labour from her own supporters.

The SNP already run Dundee and Perth, but they would also take over in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling. Glasgow and North Lanarkshire, the historic Labour heartlands would fall, this would be akin to a mini fall of the Roman Empire.

Especially Glasgow!

Parties rise and parties fall, we know and accept this, but Labour’s problems are self-inflicted, there has been bad judgement, bad policies, bad leadership and bad candidates, so they will have to go do soul searching.

Recently someone who stood for high political office said to me in conversation that they didn’t know what the Labour Party’s message was, when they said that to me, I thought there is a serious and systemic problem in the Scottish Labour Party.

Another person also just recently said in a meeting that Labour didn’t know how to campaign which rocked me back in my chair as I thought wow, this lot really do need help in a major way, so I pass along my thoughts to Lorna Finlayson who is Head of Campaigns and Organisation.

What will she do?

I suspect nothing at all.

2017 will be a difficult year for the Labour Party in Scotland, perhaps it is time to go back to the drawing board and do a root and branch review of everything and everybody.

So, what does 2017 hold for me, well I am no longer a member of the Labour Party, I will be standing as an independent in the City of Glasgow Council elections.

I decided to pass myself as a candidate!

Yours sincerely

End of Days, SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon’s career has reached the start of the beginning of the end as Theresa May delivers a complete rebuff to her on a special Brexit deal for Scotland, no separate deal on single market or immigration; there will be no second Scottish Independence referendum in 2018 either, failure to achieve all objectives yet again

Dear All

The SNP Conference is over, the ‘highlights’ were unpopular Nicola Sturgeon saying there will be a second Scottish independence referendum. The Brain family comparing being asked to follow visa rules and describing their ‘hell’, with the real tragic events of the Holocaust, the ‘Star of David’ stunt was remarkably poor taste!  The SNP giving that arse Aamer Anwar stage time, and although not part of it, an alternative ‘Nationalist’ Conference running at the same time which proves that Scotland is moving beyond the SNP.

Is there a prospect of a second Scottish independence referendum taking place in 2018?

No!

Even if Nicola Sturgeon goes through with her threat to resign as First Minister leading to an election for Holyrood, even if the SNP get a majority of seats which is very doubtful, the answer from Westminster is No!

If you have read my back posts going back years, you would have read that I said that 2018 would have been a better choice to hold a Scottish independence referendum.

Why 2018?

Well, if the SNP had ran two successful terms of government, they would have been better prepared for a proper attempt at independence, however, they didn’t, the cracks began to show of failure, and importantly they hadn’t done the work, either to provide a case or reform of government.

A ‘jolly fat man’ Alex Salmond with a smile and he is your best buddy was thought to be better, accompanied by a host of lies, intimidation and hatred.

The threat of a second independence referendum has about as much threat as a shout on a wet street, the call of arms isn’t about indy, it is all about keeping the mob quiet and using them for the forthcoming council elections in Scotland.

As long as the SNP leadership keeping saying indyref, the gullible will keep being cheap labour and donating, but they aren’t donating to win a campaign, they are donating to pay the wages of the SNP, particularly Nicola Sturgeon’s husband who rakes in it is said the over £100,000 a year.

As quickly as the words indyref 2 shot out of Sturgeon’s mouth, Theresa May has delivered a complete rebuff to Nicola Sturgeon.

No indyref 2 and also no special Brexit deal for Scotland.

Yet again Nicola Sturgeon’s career is littered with failure, failure as a First Minster, failure as Health Minister, failure as the day to day face of the Yes Campaign, failure to make Scotland a better place, failure as a local MSP, just look at Govanhill, failure to deliver a second indyref and failure to deliver a ‘special’ Brexit deal for Scotland.
If you look at the PR the SNP do for Sturgeon, you might think she is a superwoman, a statesman, someone special, she is a clown.

The UK cannot and will not have separate EU arrangements for Scotland, no separate deal on membership of the European single market and no new powers over immigration.

At any level!

When I was on the Gordon Brewer show on 10th June, I said that devolved administrations of the United Kingdom should be part of the Brexit talks, to which Gordon Brewer said that is very noble of you.

Not sure on the noble part but I was just being George Laird, ahead of the curve as usual.

The PM’s spokeswoman has been asked if she believed it was in any way feasible for one part of the UK to remain in the single market while the others left.

Let me jump right in, the answer is no!

As to immigration, the PM’s spokeswoman said:

“There is a very clear delineation between the issues that are reserved and issues that are devolved. What the Prime Minister does want to do is to work constructively with partners across the UK to secure the best deal for it as we leave the EU.”

Short version with padding it, the answer is no!

The official Brexit talks start in early 2017, the unofficial ones have already begun, if you missed it, let me fill you in, Boris Johnson came out and support Turkish membership of the EU despite the fact we are leaving.

The Turks aren’t anywhere close to getting on the first rung of EU membership, never mind anything else.

As part of Nicola Sturgeon’s grandstanding pitch, she announced a plan to appoint more Scottish trade envoys.

That would be SNP cronies and paid for by the taxpayers, meaningless nonsense who will not deliver trade deals because they will have no real authority.

Sturgeon has made it perfectly clear she would do everything in her power to keep Scotland within the single market.

Sturgeon has no power to keep Scotland in the single market because the Westminster Government has already said that freedom of movement will not be acceptable to the majority of voters who voted to leave the EU.

Finally, to return to the Brain family who decided to bite the hand that feeds them by allowing them to stay in the UK, after their Holocaust stunt to compare the Westminster Government who did bend over backwards to allow them more time to meet the visa requirements, I would deport them back to Australia.

The host country that allows them to stay is the United Kingdom, not a devolved Scotland.

Yours sincerely

Scotland says NAW, unpopular Nicola Sturgeon is allegedly holding 'secret independence talks', there is a plan, a master plan which involves her stepping down as First Minister, when is Nicola Sturgeon going to understand that no one likes her, and no one cares if she goes, her latest plan for a 3 act drama where she is the ‘heroine’ will fail, she is the ‘baddie’

Dear All

What do you do you know about movies?

Well, you know they cost generally a lot of money, you know that there has to be a plot, you know that there is a ‘start’, ‘middle,’ and an ‘end’.

Standard format!, so example, I know that a script for a movie is generally about 120 pages long, in Holywood you will notice that a movie ending generally tends to finish on a happy upbeat note.

How many movies do you see the ‘bad guy’ win?

In the movie, the Silence of the Lambs, Agent Starling with the help of Hannibal Lecter gets her, he gets shot repeatedly because he is a ‘really bad guy’, Starling saves the hostage from being torn apart; she graduates.

But the ‘second bad guy’, Hannibal Lecter manages to escape and resume his life despite being a serial killer

I am a big movie buff as you can tell.

In 2014, a three act drama was played out in Scotland called the Scottish Independence Referendum, Scotland’s ‘jolly fat man’ Alex Salmond cast himself in the role of the Hero, he also what is called in the movies a ‘sidekick’, In Errol Flynn movies that roles was taken up by Alan Hale, Hale’s character was the everyman, in the 2014 referendum, the role was taken by Nicola Sturgeon.

In our heroes we expect heroism; we expect the kind of honesty and integrity that you saw in the classic Errol Flynn movie, the Adventures of Robin Hood. The hero who puts people before self, in Salmond and Sturgeon, we didn’t get that, we had a pair of lowlifes who thought that lying, shouting freedom, blaming Westminster, big jolly fat man smile and no plan would be enough to trick Scotland into voting for independence.

The SNP cast themselves as the ‘heroes’ when in fact they were the ‘villains’, the ‘bad guys’, the people in movies who you sit and wait to see them getting what is coming to them.

I fought in the Scottish Independence Referendum, I was on the right side, the side of the Scottish people, and what did the Scottish people have to say to Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon?

No!

In passing, I bumped into Adam Tomkins, he is now a Tory MSP for Glasgow, at the time, I said to him, that he should archive everything from Better Together.

In 2016, at the SNP Conference, Nicola Sturgeon has decided that she wants to do another three act drama; this will be called indyref 2. The reason which she hinges her reasons, is bogus, in fact it really doesn’t matter what the excuse is for the SNP. This one involves saying a lie that Scotland voted to stay in the European Union.

Scotland did not vote to stay in the European Union, the people of the United Kingdom voted by a majority to leave the European Union.

Never confuse Europe with the European Union, they are distinct entities.

So, in the three act drama that Sturgeon wants to run, she is the ‘heroine’, she is the cherished figure, don’t go Nicola, we love you and all that other bullshit you would see on a cheap and cheesy midweek show like RiverCity.  Apparently Nicola Sturgeon has discussed secret plans to call a snap Holyrood election to force another independence referendum. The idea is that she steps down and fights the campaign based on an EU vote.

In effective she wants to gamble her political career and stand down as First Minister in 2018 to secure a second vote on breaking up Britain.

Anyway before we go on time for a poem which unpopular Nicola Sturgeon should have read and didn’t, presumably too busy watching Borgen.

Sometime when you're feeling important;
Sometime when your ego 's in bloom;
Sometime when you take it for granted,
You're the best qualified in the room:
Sometime when you feel that your going,
Would leave an unfillable hole,
Just follow these simple instructions,
And see how they humble your soul.
Take a bucket and fill it with water,
Put your hand in it up to the wrist,
Pull it out and the hole that's remaining,
Is a measure of how much you'll be missed.
You can splash all you wish when you enter,
You may stir up the water galore,
But stop, and you'll find that in no time,
It looks quite the same as before.
The moral of this quaint example,
Is to do just the best that you can,
Be proud of yourself but remember,
There's no indispensable man.

But Nicola Sturgeon think she is, yes there will be a lot of noise and given the state of Labour and the Tories in Scotland, it is highly doubtful that Kezia Dugdale or Ruth Davidson will win the position of First Minister.

If this blog is about anything, it is about telling the truth.

So, there is no gamble on winning First Minister but the gamble that Sturgeon will win a Section 30 order out of Westminster is, and before she starts off on the path, she isn’t getting a Section 30 order.

Whatever the ‘deal’ made on Brexit is, apparently Sturgeon will say that the ‘deal’ isn’t good enough, toss on a bit of ‘Scotland taken out against her will’ and hey presto, SNP Grievance, otherwise known in housing schemes as ‘dick behaviour’.

So, we fast forward to 2018, Sturgeon resigns as First Minster, nothing gets done for a 28 days (are you noticing anything getting done now) and Scotland is off to the polls. The SNP win by a landslide, we are back at the same place, and Sturgeon is no further forward.

But she then says that she has a mandate.

 A senior source said:

"The plan then is for Sturgeon to resign as First Minister in the knowledge that neither Ruth Davidson or Kezia Dugdale could replace her. After 28 days of no government there will have to be an election and the SNP will make it into a single issue of holding an independence referendum."

They added:

"The idea is that the election will be a platform to build a winning majority for independence in the referendum which would have to follow when the SNP win."

At the present moment, I doubt that Sturgeon could get a majority in parliament so she would have to go knocking on the door of the Scottish Greens.

And as I mentioned to a Sheriff who sits on the bench last night, no Section 30 order which also means, no Yes Scotland official campaign, no Better Together campaign and no legal basis to do anything.

The Law can be quite unforgiving if you breach electoral law, and of course there will be no declaration of UDI.

What I find funny is that the SNP are leaking polling data which they say appears to show that as a result of Brexit many voters in Scotland have switched sides in the independence debate.

And it gets better, the SNP want to go around and use Brexit fears to get a coalition of the willing, civic groups, universities, colleges and other organisations.

Kirsty Hughes, a leading Brussels-watcher, said on current events:

"[This] would mean Scotland could, as part of its divorce talks with the UK, hold parallel membership talks with the EU, and attempt to limit the damage so that its laws did remain consistent with the EU, allowing fast-track negotiations and re-entry."

Let’s break this down; the Westminster Government will not give a Section 30 order.

As there will be no divorce talks because there will be no second referendum. The SNP won’t be holding parallel talks because if the scenario that Ms. Hughes painted was true, the UK and Scotland would have to be finish and sign off on independence before Brussels could even talk to the SNP, and they can’t and won’t do that if there are live talks in process.

That would be classed as interfering in the domestic politics of a member state, and that is a big no no!

If Scotland were independent, they wouldn’t get fast track membership, this is another myth used by the SNP.

Try this article:

Internal domestic problems in at least 4 EU countries will see a veto against Scotland; you would think an EU watcher like Ms. Hughes would know this!

So, in conclusion, Nicola Sturgeon does her three act drama, act 1, not happy with Brexit, act 2, the election, ‘let’s save Nicola as FM’ and act 3, failure.

When it comes to politics, you should look at Nicola Sturgeon’s track record in power, it is a career littered with failure to lead, failure as a First Minster, failure as Health Minister, failure as the day to day face of the Yes Campaign, failure to make Scotland a better place, and also failure as a local MSP, just look at Govanhill.

The people of Scotland won’t vote for Scottish independence under the Scottish National Party, and not under her leadership.

In movies, the ‘heroine’ is always saved or saves the day, but Nicola Sturgeon isn’t a ‘heroine’, she may wrap herself in ‘selfies’ with kids to appear ‘caring’ and ‘likeable’ but as she knows she isn’t and when you look in her eyes, you do see an angry vicious nasty little person staring right back at you.

Scotland says NAW Nicola!

Yours sincerely

Where the hell did that mountain come from, Heinkel doing bombing run, test material

The Rise of the Far Right, Angela Merkel’s career is collapsing as opposition party AfD soars in Germany, in Holland, Geert Wilders is set to be the next leader of Holland, and in France, President Francois Hollande is speaking out against mass immigration, if you want change, you have to stand for public office, the message has sunk in now with European people

Dear All

The electorate is angry, you don’t have to look at things in the UK; you can get a sense of it further afield, so today, the post is on Germany and the Netherlands.

Politicians don’t want the public involved in decision making, the talk of how wonderful it is that a nation has become politically active as blurted out by Scotland’s ‘jolly fat man’ Alex Salmond is erroneous nonsense.

The political elite don’t want to be representatives of the people, they are the representatives of big business who have successful bought them off, not a whole party, you don’t have to go that far, just some of the key leaders.

A common complaint is that nothing ever changes, the poor become poorer the rich become richer, and the politicians don’t help but see themselves as ‘managers’ or overseers of the population. And they pay themselves a great of money, and when they leave public office, they walk into highly paid jobs which they aren’t trained in, educated in or have any relevant experience.

You know the phrase, the ‘old boys’ network’.

The Brexit campaign was a milestone in British politics, the people didn’t follow the advice of their leaders in government, they voted to leave the EU project, it was the right thing to do. Brexit wasn’t a destination however; it was just a way station on the road to further change. If the Remain and Leave leaders failed to deliver on immigration control, you will see the rise of new political parties in the UK. People will not settle for being fobbed off with anything less than full Brexit and full sovereignty restored.

Angela Merkel was without doubt one of the most powerful leaders in the history of Germany, she was surefooted, it seemed that nothing could affect her popularity or standing with the people.

The migrant crisis came which changed perception of her dramatically.

For every action there are consequences, for Merkel the world has turned and so has her standing, she is now experiencing election defeat to anti-immigration party, the right-wing populist Alternative for Germany (AfD). The tide has turned against her, the people have turned against her and now even those in her own party recognise that she is a liability.

Merkel's party, the conservative CDU party was hammered into third place in an election in her home state on Sunday. This has prompted her own party and government ministers to say that she can 'no longer ignore views of the people'.

For Merkel, the situation has gone too far, she maybe under renewed pressure to U-turn on her 'open door' refugee policy, she maybe willing to admit mistakes, but the time for listening to her is gone!

Next year will be a milestone in European politics, national elections will be taking place, her opponents the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party is growing strong; they took almost 21 per cent in its first bid for seats in the regional parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. AfD co-chief Beatrix von Storch hailed the shock outcome as 'the beginning of the end of the Merkel era', that is a fair assessment, the end of Merkel was sealed when she decided to rewrite policy not just for Germany but for the entire 28 EU Member States.

The Conservative CDU party is now facing up to the fact that they have a lame duck leader, and she will not step down and in return for her intransigence she will take down and fatally wound her own party’s chances.

If you think back to my earlier migrant posts, I said the actions of Merkel had created the biggest single crisis since the end of the Second World War, and guess what, the daily newspaper Die Welt has commented:

'Germany now has what has never existed since the end of the war: an extreme-right party'.

Her key allies wrongly think that by demanding changes, this will avoid being decimated at the ballot box in next year's general election, its too late for that, already a tipping point has been reached.

Is Merkel going to start a deportation programme?

Is Merkel going to round up the migrants and put them in camps?

Is Merkel doing to do what is necessary, what she should have done in the first place?

There is an old saying in politics, when you become the story; it is time to leave office, Angela Merkel should not stand for public office for a fourth term.

In local elections in this country such as council, the issues tend to be fought out on local matters, the voter turn out also tends to be poor, in Germany the local elections also follow the same traits, there the issues tend to be decided on economic matters, this election was special, this one was fought solely on the chancellor's immigration programme.

No country can open its self up to uncontrolled immigration; it is dangerous, unethical and leads to breakdown of social cohesion. Germans aren’t employing the economic migrants, around 975,000 migrants are receiving benefits, and the German people have already made their decision on integration of these people.

The EU project run without regard to the people by an unaccountable and unelected self serving elite might be putting on a good show of bravado at present, but the reality is it is imploding.

Did you by chance catch the statement that the EU should close the borders between them and the UK by some insignificant wee guy in Luxembourg? Apparently the idea; is to teach us in the United Kingdom a lesson of where the power lies. This guy has the same problem that Merkel has, lives in a bubble, paid as part of the political elite and out of touch with the people.

Germans will take care of the Merkel problem; the EU Member States will probably have to see new political leaders emerge to take care of the EU problem, the main thurst of which will be entire reform with the removal of the concept that in future no Commission style setup which takes State sovereignty away will ever be tolerated again.

In Holland as in Germany, the people are angry, and when people get angry they look beyond current leaders to others to represent them. Political failure in Europe is the lynchpin of many problems which were all avoidable and could have been foreseen. Dutch leadership hopeful Geert Wilders is calling for a quick exit from the European Union because of Angela Merkel’s 'stupidity'.

Eventually as I stated many times on the blog, people come round to the George Laird view, and then it spreads, of course, I don’t have the same high profile as someone like Geert Wilders but usually I am right up there when it comes to being ahead of the curve.

Geert Wilders is an anti-immigration MP, who is leading all the polls to be the country’s next leader, if he gets in, it will be another country in Europe which has shifted to the right which I said was always going to happen.

Wilders said:

"We have a ‘political elite’ at the top not listening to them (people) and that is why parties like mine all over Europe are getting votes. We should not have to pay for the stupidity of Angela Merkel. She can invite anyone she wants but we did not invite them so they shouldn't be able to come here. We will decide ourselves who is welcome here."

All together now……… sovereignty!

Remember this word, it is going to be talked about an awful lot in the coming years as Europe is re-designed and the EU project either dies out or attempts to reverse engineer back towards an EEC Common Market.

Geert Wilders has a party called the Dutch Freedom Party (PVV), their manifesto is populist; in that they call for the complete de-Islamification of the Netherlands, to stop Muslim asylum-seekers from entering the Netherlands, shut down all Islamic schools and refugee centres and ban women from wearing headscarfs in public.

Populist!

Most opinion polls in the run-up to parliamentary elections in March next year in Holland look incredibly good for the Dutch Freedom Party (PVV), their possible success is no different that the AfD in Germany and the Identitarian Movement in Austria, they are finding their voice and they are finding their audience.

If the forecast are correct, the Dutch Freedom Party could take 35 seats in the 150-seat Dutch Parliament. This might be enough to unseat the ruling Liberal party. Geert Wilders also echos the Identitarian Movement in Austria when he says:

“The EU leaves us no freedom to determine our own immigration and asylum laws. That’s why leaving the EU is necessary.”

All together now……… sovereignty!

If the Dutch Freedom Party (PVV) becomes the government of Holland, there is a manifesto commitment to voters the chance to vote in an EU referendum, and this time, unlike the UK, the government of Holland will be leading the Leave Campaign, and I think there is a strong chance of it as being successful as the UK campaign.

What future then for the EU and Europe?

The EU has to be dismantled, it has gone wrong, plainly what started out as a way of bring nations closer together has been ruined by the political elite, they thought they didn’t have to listen.

As to Europe, this will go on, individual state will regain sovereignty and start making their own decisions on areas which they previously were dictated to by Brussels.

You are witnessing the biggest political change in Europe since the Second World War, we will see the move to the right in politics, Islamic jihadi terrorists will fuel this mindset, and we will know who in the political class were responsible for bring death and destruction to our way of life.

It isn’t a safe time to be a politician in Europe, physically or indeed politically.

Finally, Europe is a great place to visit; some of my happiest memories were my holidays there in the past.

When is Europe so special?

I would say go find out yourself, experience the atmosphere, soak up the culture, then you will understand yourself.

Finally, I see that the French President Francois Hollande has now admitted 'France has a problem with Islam' and that he is now against mass immigration, you are seeing a different Europe emerge before your very eyes.

Yours sincerely

Political Parties rise and fall: Labour Cllr Jackie Burns: Deputy Leader of South Lanarkshire council has been charged by Police Scotland, as well as electoral defeat the party is experiencing a constant run of bad luck, bad decisions and bad news, it is time to show leadership

Dear All

Here is a quote:

“Families are always rising and falling in the America.”

The quote is by a 19th-century American novelist and short story writer Nathaniel Hawthorne.

The same could be also said of political parties, they rise and the fall, how long between each cycle depends on various factors.

Yesterday, I was blogging how things at the top of the Labour are bad, the spiral of just sheer bad luck almost seems like a cycle.

When the Labour Party went through the Westminster 2015, I was sitting on the side lines watching the world go by, I had no choice, I was ill, seriously ill, and for the first time in my entire life, I had wrote a will.

But I lived thanks to the skill of my surgeon and the Scottish NHS; I never thought when I campaigned for Better Together that a few months later I would be calling on their services to save me.

So at the end of 2015, a rather ill shaky George Laird stumbled back out on to the playing field, shunted into Pollok CLP.

Recently Labour Cllr David Fagan was rightly suspended from the Labour Party.

Party bosses will be rather upset that this issue is happening, and who can blame them, this type of stuff is so toxic that no one wants to be anywhere near it.

Now, we get another bad news story, Labour Cllr Jackie Burns is Deputy Leader of South Lanarkshire council, he is now charged by police after incident last month. When parties have leadership problems at the top, like an army they start to fall apart, the troops become demoralised and a sense of gloom and impending defeat enters their minds.

Police Scotland said:

"We can confirm that a 52 year old man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with an alleged offence."

Cllr Jackie Burns represents Larkhall on the council and being a cllr he sits on various committees, including social work, planning, recruitment and housing. He also sits on the board of NHS Lanarkshire.
A Scottish Labour spokesman said:

"Councillor Jackie Burns has been suspended from the party and the South Lanarkshire Council Labour group."

A council spokesman said:

"The council has been informed that councillor Burns has been suspended by his party. The council leader has advised that councillor Burns will cease to represent the Labour party on the council while he is suspended."

A Crown Office spokesperson:

"The Procurator Fiscal has received a report concerning a 52-year-old man in connection with an alleged incident said to have occurred on 18 September 2016. The report remains under consideration.”

And no one apparently at this stage is willing to say what the alleged incident actually is at this juncture.

Being in politics is a stressful gig if you do the job and put the work in, and there is a flood of work, for others, there is no stress because they do the bare minimum and are crap.

The Scottish Labour Party cannot afford to keep suspending Councillors, so they should re-enforce to those who have been elected that yes, they want the highest standards in public office, nothing more than can reasonably be expected.

Apparently some in the Scottish Labour Party have written off North Lanarkshire and Glasgow, now bad news out of South Lanarkshire council.

Yours sincerely
